As someone who is a musical potato, beat games are always hard for me.

That being said, I had a lot of fun with this one. I really like the idea of being able to place dices to the beat the way you want.

Add a score or a survival timer and this game would be quite addctive!

Great job, awesome concept.

Now we're jamming! The only rhythm game I played in the jam and it didn't disappoint. Clever mechanic! Good game, good music, what else do I need? perhaps a bigger speaker in playing this :D Great work, goldentoy

I really loved this game! The gameplay has a nice flow to it (especially with how the dash mechanics work - using it to reposition while still focusing fire on enemies is super satisfying), and the fact that no die faces are strictly better than one another made it feel really fun. My main nitpick is that because dice faces aren't strictly better by number, it might make some sense to just give them unique icons instead of numbers - that way, the player can't get the wrong impression that only high numbers are worthwhile.

I'd love to play a post-jam version with more enemy types and whatnot as the game goes on!

(edit: added a blurb about the dash)

Really impressive that you managed to do all of this alone in such a short time :o

I love the idea of your game but I feel like it works more on paper than in game. Not having control of your shots doesn't feel great. Here are some things you could do that I feel would help the game feel:

  • Keep only half the bars available to the player, so they can make patterns that will be played more often
  • Display what the faces do: I think you have enough space in the bottom left corner to list the faces, with one or two words to describe what they do (dash, double shot, heavy bullet, etc.), or you could just replace the numbered faces with icons of the skill
  • Make the character shoot automatically from the moment the first enemy appear to the moment the last one dies, there is no reason to stop shooting and having to hold the button make the player's hand cramp (and the game more difficult to be played for some players with disabilities)
  • Maybe the dash should not be tied to a die but always available as a second action (right click to dash?) At the moment the dash feels more like an hindrance, and many times I rolled into enemies because of it. Also, it would give players something to do while waiting for the right shot to come

To finish on a good note (pun intended), the songs are all great and the main character looks really good. As I said, impressive!
