This looks so cool, what is that thing i'm using to kill the enemies? i love the visual feedback as well ^^ just found the enemy AI to be a bit punishing but really cool entry ^^

Developer(+1)

Hey, FelipeRattu! The weapon of the main character is the chain and bolt they carry around. Thanks for the feedback man, and sorry for the over the top difficulty.

Cool game! The only main thing I would change would be to adjust the collision of the attack. It felt like I should have been hitting the enemy based on the animation and wasn't. Great job though!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback ladymudkipz! Yeah, it's kinda punishing, I'll totally consider it given that the attacking disadvantage of the player was the most mentioned point. Thanks again!

Love the idea, the vibes and the way the story is handled.

I quite disliked the combat though, the player is put at a clear disadvantage. You can only attack left or right, so you have to line yourself up with the enemies, who can attack you from any direction. The enemies respawn every time you re-enter a room, making it cumbersome to backtrack. And the little blue guys that shoot are way too accurate with their shots compared to the size of their hitboxes; the small hitbox and the player's limited attack range means your approach has to be precise, but their accuracy means your approach has to be fast and you can't walk towards them in a straight line to line up your hit. I'm also bad at games lol so I might be biased on this.

You have me hooked with everything else, I want to see all of it but I can't push through my problems with the combat. If you make a post-jam version I'll come back to it.

Hello Banana Person! Thanks for playing and the feedback. Indeed the game is quite punishing and rough around the edges, I am planning to use all the feedback to make a better version or a new game entirely. I'll make sure to keep you posted when the new one is ready!

Wow deep dungeon and deepest lore! The story was wild and I felt fully invested into the craziness of this loan shark mob world! I’m glad we were able to get some closure (:

You can tell how much work went into this game and it really pays off! A comprehensive map partnered with varieties of rooms, items, and monsters really speaks to how fleshed out this game is. I wasn’t the best at combat, but the game made me want to keep trying and persevere! Really wonderful game!! Congrats!

DanzMacabre, thank you very much for playing and your positive feedback!

What on earth is that thing? I love it. The game looks fantastic and the 1 dimensional combat adds a lot of challenge. Players attack area could be slightly bigger and they got stuck on rocks a few times so I presume move_and_slide wasn't used here.

Developer

Thanks for the review, OzMaister! I did use move and slide but yeah, I think I might've messed up some tilemap collisions, sorry for the inconvenience.

It took me a while to win the final boss fight, like the story and the mood, the atmosphere. Good job

Developer

Hey xPheRe! Thank you playing and congrats on beating the boss!

I like it so much!

The controls are very responsible, the music are atmospherical and sfx works good with the game.

Congrats man, it's realy a great game!

Looks dope!! Did you do the graphics?

Developer

Thanks POMPY! No, I used free assets from itch and OpenGameArt. There's due credit on the credits roll. Thank you for playing : )

Thought so, the pixel density seemed off, but great storytelling, congrats!

This was a nice experience. Not being able to attack up or down was rather annoying though.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The sprite came that way. I was willing to add a second power, leaving a bomb like in bomberman, but couldn't make it in time.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, it's impressive you could put all the story and cinematics. I wish the combat system was somewhat different though. It's super hard to kill the blue bobs without being hit, and I didn't manage to kill the boss, despite many attempts. Still, it's a great entry overall. well done!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry for making the boss too hard. I've played it so many times that learned to kill it easily and thought, on the contrary, that it was too easy. Thanks again, loved your cactus game : )

Impressive game, the art and the music are well done but it's the story that makes it really interesting

Developer

Thanks Lazard, appreciated.

Cool game.

It would be good if the attack could be launched in the direction of the player movement. Attacking enemies from top or bottom would be helpfull

Developer

Hi jaspior, thanks for the feedback. Was gonna add a bomb that goes off after some time but couldn't make it in time. Maybe later! Thanks again.

Developer

Hello everyone! Thank you all for the feedback. I tracked those bugs down and made several runs of the game without crashing. Hope you are able to run it without issues this time. Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed the artwork and music. Starting cutscene was pretty cool. However, after going a couple screens left in the dungeon, the game crashes.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback Dan! I've released a new version with several fixes.

No problem. I'll give it another play.

I think you forgot to send the .pck file with the .exe inside your .rar, friend. Anyway, judging by the images, your game looks great!

Developer

Hello! Did the game not ran? I used embed pck to keep it all in one file. Thanks for dropping by.

I have tried to download it again and now it is working fine. Deep Dungeon is great! Certainly one of the best of the jam! The art is amazing!

Developer

Thank you man! I kept testing it but I feel some random bugs still lurk in the program. They don't seem to happen on the web export, so I'm recommeding people to play there instead. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and for giving it another try, you rock!
