Loved this. Was just really getting into it and it crashed :(

I would say two things stood out, lack of camera zoom and possibly balance between the two spreading units. Perhaps some feedback about where the meteors land with a little distance based ping indicator rather than just North/South East etc.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Minimap with meteorite spawn indicators was actually planned, but didin’t make it in time for the jam submission. Camera zoom is not currently considered, but we might implement a rotateable camera.

We also need to do more playtesting to eliminate crashes. As I mentioned in other comment, we didn’t really have time to properly test the game in time for the submission.

I can’t figure out how to build water collectors! What am I missing here?

Same here.

The fixed version 1.0.1 is now released. Theres a new “HD Terrain” toggle in the settings and disabling it should hopefully render the terrain correctly. Feel free to let me know if there are any other issues.

There is an issue with rendering the terrain on certain machine configurations. Game logic itself is unaffected, but the terrain isn’t rendered correctly. Please note that the game is designed to only support GLES3, so if you have an older graphics card, that might be the cause of the issue.

Would you mind sharing your specs (specifically graphics card), OS version and other possibly helpful information? I’d also suggest updating your graphics card drivers to the latest version if you haven’t already.

I might be able to disable certain shader effects to try and fix the issue. I’m unsure about the rules with patching things during the voting phase, but I sent a message to the admin about it.

Let me know if you want me to message you somewhere in case I’m able to fix it so you can try to play the game again.

I don’t think it’s a rendering issue. Everything seems to be rendering correctly (as far as I can tell). I can place spread bulbs without issue. I just can’t place the water collector.

Oh, wait. The terrain is rendering as water! That makes perfect sense. Here’s a screenshot of my system info:

Sorry to report the “HD Terrain” toggle doesn’t seem to make any difference ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Developer(+1)

That’s unfortunate. The update I did fixed the exact same issue on my old Linux laptop, so I assumed it would be enough. I’d probably have to tune the shaders down even more to make it work, but I probably won’t be able upload another fix until the voting is over.

Thanks again for all your help! Maybe you can check the game out in the future if we keep updating and fixing it after the jam is over.

This game is definitely impressive! It looks great and feels very smooth. It was definitely fun to play for a bit, though it starts to get repetitive.

This was really fun, even without any real game balance it was a joy to play and expand. My game did seem to crash when I killed a meteorite, with a spread bulb I think. Really well rounded and polished for a jam though.

Thanks for the feedback! There’s a known issue with the meteorites causing a game crash at least when hovered over in “Destroy” mode. I will look into it and probably release a fix for it some time after the voting is done, since updating the game is “locked” for now.

Here’s a somewhat accurate re-enactment of the night after submitting the game:

After testing it myself turns out you can’t destroy the meteorites just by clicking them in “Destroy” mode. The game just crashes instead. I don’t know if it’s better or worse. 😅

This game was really fun to play and intuitive.  I could see this being a paid mobile game or some other similar small commercial project, it felt very professional.  Would love to see more from you going forward.

Played it, with the audio in this game sure build up the atmospheric you guys want to create! And the graphics is actually pretty nice as the aesthetics do fit with the "plot".

However, I want to say that beside the colony expansion with certain production buildings, and survive as long as possible, there is nothing to do but expand your creep.

Could mean the landed blue-ish meteor spreading their own creeps might defeat my main base, yeah. But it's not concerning enough to have you pay attention at most of the times as it always dropped and spawned far away from your base at each side.

Still, this is one of the most interesting game I have played in this game jam, hope you guys can continue learning and improving your skills to meet what you want to achieve!

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to balance the gameplay in time for the submission. I personally did barely any playtesting and I think I never actually played the game for more than a few minutes at a time to test things so most of my contributions to gameplay were purely “on paper”.

Luckily my teammate had a bit more time to do some balancing regarding resource gain and consumption, but I admit that maybe the “threat” was not so threatening after all.

I’m still very happy with how we managed to create a pretty solid foundation which allows us to expand and improve the game in the future. We already have some ideas for updates for when the jam is over, but we’ll have to wait and see if we find the time to implement them.
