I must admit it was a bit too difficult as the attack was delayed. The slimes were very fast and I could barely get past the first two rooms after a couple of tries.
Still, it was impressive enemy AI, such that there were two and it seemed very performant. One thing I noticed is that clicking ON a cauldron did not attack for some reason, so I thought I was doing the wrong thing and didn't figure out the upgrading until after some time.
I would have obviously liked some music/SFX but the jam can be short, so that's reasonable. Even if you were able to get a copyright free music loop in there, I think it would have improved the experience a lot.
Interesting idea to take the "combine" theme in a more passive manner; kind of like a crafting loop kind of game, which is definitely "combining" even if I haven't thought about it in that term before. Definitely a unique take, well done!
Great concept! I liked the overall look too! The slight delay in the attack makes it difficult to fight occasionally, and there were times when an enemy's drop appeared within a wall and I couldn't get it. But I had fun with it!
Pretty good entry I think.
Very good graphics, enemy design and balance (in my experience enemies were beatable, combat works well but isn't too easy either). The concept was pretty good but the implementation was a bit underwhelming I think.
However the lack of sound, level design does bring it down a bit for me. Still a very enjoyable experience ! GGs
In the end my complaint is that I want more !

That pesky ghost is the bane of my runs! I thought the combination mechanic was a cool idea even if I didn鈥檛 make it that far before dying 馃槄

I liked the idea of combining enemy items to give enhancements instead of levelling up with experience. The additional step gives it more difficulty and control. Good job!

I died a lot but at it was fun experience. It would be cool to have bigger item collection area because sometimes collectibles drop outside of the map or in the wall. Cool game ^^
I agree! The ghost's item can get stuck in the wall pretty easily and it's frustrating! Already have some ideas on fixing that in particular. :) Thanks for checking our game out.

very pretty looking! difficulty is somewhat high, and the ghost is way too mean :) it鈥檚 somewhat tedious to have to walk back the the starting zone all the time
Thanks for checking it out! Ghost is probably a bit too fast and damaging! I wanted to put in some warps back to the cauldrons in some areas, but the level design got pushed to pretty much the end and was kinda hastily thrown together! Also good to hear you enjoyed the art, as there was great care taken into it. :)

Great game and great graphics!! The slime was a tough enemy to defeat honestly!! The ghost just sweeped my life away but still great game!! At least you submitted a game and I think its fine since it is a playable game!!! You can make this a full game someday!

I can see what you wanted this game to be! Kudos to you for getting it as finished as you were able. I think all the sprites and animations are very good. I'm not sure if you were able to get the combination mechanic to work, but I could not figure it out :(

There was quite a bit more planned for the whole mixing system, but it got scrapped near the end in the sake of getting -something- playable submitted. What's in there right now is pretty simple: the three cauldrons at the start use the monster drops to increase your stats.

So do they happen automatically if I collect parts? Or do I have to do something to get the buffs other than collect parts? Also is the level of buff displayed anywhere in game?

Sorry should have been more clear. Once you get the parts from the monsters, go back to the cauldrons at the start of the level and "attack" the cauldron to get its respective upgrade. The cauldron with the sword will up your attack, the cauldron with the heart will increase your health, and the cauldron with the boot will increase your movement speed.
The upgrade levels for attack and speed are displayed in the top right.

Art style is great, especially the main character! Looks like you had a lot more planned for this one.. hope you continue to develop it.
I love the idea of collecting the drops and combining them to buff you. Attack animation is very tight and hard to land. I think art and animations are really nice.
