Oh, level 3 was a little too hard for me lol. The sliding boat felt actually pretty nice to control. I also like seeing all the wreckages while trying the level.
You mf got me with the don't press R one.
No, I wasn't mad, not even after the endurance test that was level 3. I climbed back up.
It is then that, after buying one of the paddles on level 4, my now insomnia-riddled brain read the "press Q" prompt on the not bought paddle. I pressed Q. Nothing happen. Thinking it must be an issue with my AZERTY keyboard, I pressed all buttons to see if another one did something. There was indeed one button which did something.
Seeing as I will probably never come back to finish this now, my unrested soul will probably haunt you for a while once I die. You did this to yourself.
5/5, sliding controls are weirdly nice to use.
I'm sorry I didn't have time to put a coin counter or something, then you would have seen that you could only afford to buy one of the paddles! (Q cycles the current paddle being used, you can see it on the color/design which one is currently equipped, Green = slow but less sliding, Red = fast but more sliding). What I'm not sorry about is the "R" :P
At what spots did you die the most? (so I know where the biggest offender is)
The difficulty spike on the 3rd level is a bit much, but I'm working on a new version of the game where that level isn't quite as bad, and adding many more levels. I am currently doing a frogger level where you have to dodge a bunch of large ships to deliver 10+ ghosts back and forth, as well as other unreasonable level designs! I'm definitely going to rework the shop mechanics so things are clearer and faster to use, +more items. I hope you follow the game if you want to suffer more in the future! Thanks for playing!
Loved the art and the mechanic. Moving around felt really good. I found the game to be extremely difficult, but I did manage to get to level 3. Great entry!
Classic game play but well executed ^^ also pretty hard !
I didn’t get passed the 3rd level, I rage quitted haha.
I love your take on the ghost theme with Charon delivering ghosts. His boat is drifty asf tho, he should try doing a crossover with Need For Speed or Initial D at some point.
The graphics are cute and the sound is cool. Really nice game!
I was going to say that the game was really hard and controls were too hard. but then I realize this might be a rage game and all the things I was going to say flipped haha.
Really fun and hardcore game, + for the shipwreck on the place you crashed.
Great submission Cheers!!!
One word: HARDCORE!!
hahaha I love difficulty but I might admit I ragequitted... I'm probably coming back tomorrow for more, cause after a few levels it felt too challenging for my skills.
Love the idea. I would perhaps make it a bit easier, or at least at the beginning so you get used to it.
Also, I love how when you die you leave the boat broken there, superb.
Thanks! Yeah there is a bit of a difficulty spike at 3rd level, though I think the 4th and 5th level may be easier than that one. Also you can buy a paddle from Hermes to help you, the green one goes slower and slides less and the RED one goes faster... You will need one of them for the 5th level
I don't know if sliding in a game that requires precise movement is fun. But I frankly I know I did. Until the 3rd level. I raged quit.
Yeah there may have been a bit of a jump in difficulty on the third level... But I'm glad you had fun! The sliding is there just to be mean, but since you are on a boat it kinda makes sense. On the fourth level you can buy a new paddle that makes you slide much less but is slower in speed. Or you can buy the RED paddle and go super fast...
Holy moly. Is this supposed to be punishingly hard or is it just that I suck at games?
I enjoyed seeing all the shipwrecks!
yes it was supposed to be punishingly hard so don't feel bad, though I did end up making it easier several times through playtesting until I could get through it myself without too much issue.
The shipwrecks really brings it all together haha
Nice! The controls felt right and the hitboxes didn't feel unfair at all; most of the times, what killed me was the momentum. I didn't get what those places that said "press E" were for. My score was 79 deaths and about 13-15 minutes (I forgot already)
ah the "press e" was for buying new paddles from Hermes, when you get close to one of the paddles a bunch of coin slots appear and if you press e you can buy it, if you don't buy one the next level is probably too hard, i'd recommend the green one as that is slower but reduces the sliding. The red one = fast but more sliding, the top path in the subsequent level can only be passed with the red paddle. But you got through the game with just the blue paddle? That's amazing! xD
Oh, I see, you have to keep E pressed to buy it, I was just tapping it last time. Maybe some indication of progress or showing the animation right away instead of having a delay could have helped noticing it. And now my new time is 3:58:9 and 12 deaths :-)
