I enjoyed the humor, and the music at the end was perfect -- I felt extra accomplished! Having a tutorial was nice, too. I thought the amount that you move up from pressing the space bar once was a little much, especially during the parts where you're progressing horizontally. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing through this. Nice work :)
Thanks! :)
Short but fun game. The story introduction was well thought out with many effects. Good effort!
The game didn't load when pressing play in windows build. But the browser version worked, and delivered! Nice with some more crazy stuff, I had a real good time with the game. I like that it went through some different stages or modes. And epic boss fight!
Very fun entry, good job :)
I just went through the Valley scene, and apparently the birds.mp3 file crashes it. The editor also crashes any time I import my audio file. Maybe the sound effect is corrupted or something? I dunno. Thanks for catching that! And for trying out my game too!
Aha! Converting the file to .ogg fixed the issue!
This was hilarious! I loved the narrator and the storm effects were great! The music was amazing, I'm about to go look up the artist
Here are the loops I used for the majority of the game:
Imminent Threat | OpenGameArt.org
It's a pretty good asset!
Thanks for the feedback!
Lol what the hell is going on there XD It was unexpecting and very nicely made! The turnings of story were so hilarious.
I recommend everyone to collect the worms. Don’t quit. Please don’t do it!
and die at least for once! It is just fun to see.
Great job on this!
Thanks!
Cool game! Managed to beat the boss on 2nd try.
First time on the boss battle I got it to about 30% health and then it disappeared for a bit and a dialogue showed up, but on my 2nd try this second phase did not happen and I was just a single fight from 100% to 0%. Not if that's how it's supposed to be or one of those was a bug :)
Also on the first enemy, the first time I played I was at 90% HP, I killed it, got the dialogue to continue but also somehow died at the same time - not sure how, because I killed the only enemy and I was almost at full health.
Music nicely puts you in a fighting mood :)
Controls feel a bit floaty, but I got used to it quite quickly.
At first I thought that the huge arrows are enemies and was shooting at them. Maybe making them a bit less threatening - not red and less saturated - would help.
Nice idea with adding fog to reduce visibility, but I think it could be toned down a bit. I mostly avoided fog completely, because I couldn't see anything in it and it didn't seem to affect the enemies.
Cheers!
Huh. Yeah, the boss thing is most definitely a bug. As was the random death while fighting the first enemy.
Thanks for playing it and for giving such an extensive review :)
I was not prepared for this experience, expecting a flappy bird game.
Honestly I love how well the whole game focused on immersing the player in the story, without having too much where it would distract from the gameplay itself (usually I struggle with games where the story and gameplay feel like separate experiences from each other). The pacing and storytelling by directing visual attention were really great and kept me hooked throughout the whole thing. I also loved the twist with the boss fight.
Even though the art and music assets were borrowed, you used them in the right way and picked very fitting music for each moment.
Sometimes it was a bit hard to see how far exactly I could fall down before hitting the river, but during the gameplay it didn't really matter since the main obstacle were the storm birds anyway. I feel like a single wing flap didn't have to push me this high, usually my problem was more with the ceiling than with falling down, the rest of the controls were fine.
Overall, a short but fun experience with a great atmosphere. ^^
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the feedback :)
It was pretty fun, liked the humor and worm sprites. Controls are pretty clunky, but I think it's okay for a flappybird-inspired game :p
Texture filtering in the mountain texture looks kinda awkward though
Yeah, I cringed right when I scaled the mountain sprite. That's the downside of using prebuilt assets. It's worth it, though--any assets created by me are pretty awful
Interesting game! Good job
Nice Control and Ai
