Very nice game idea. With some good work and polish it can become a pleasant gaming experience. Keep it up!
Thanks for the support!
I liked the concept behind the game a lot. The controls were too difficult. I am on a laptop so I had to switch between the arrow keys and the track pad. If I were able to use WASD I could have kept one hand for moving and one hand for placing bridges.
Despite that, I was able to beat it. It was quite stressful, but satisfying to make it to the end. The fairy built a lot of tension. :)
Thanks for the feedback. In a future update im planning to add better controls, and maybe the possibility to allow the player to choose their controls.
It's an interesting concept actually. Original one. Love the idea. As others said it would be cool to make it slower, use different pieces to build the bridge. I'm not sure I got it correctly, but I was able to build only "L" shaped pieces. I guess you had no extra time. Of course some audio would be cool.
So yeah with some more work it will be really a game I would like to try again.
Thanks for the support! You can build different bridge types using the numbers 1-6 to choose between 6 different types. There are 4 L shaped pieces (each in a different orientation) and 2 straight pieces. I'll add audio in a later update.
That was absolutely frantic and quite fun. I could see this working really well if you slowed it down a little and gave the player different bridge pieces (like a straight piece, corner, T-junction) so that you have to think about how to build a way forward while panicking. The gaps could have obstacles like rocks that you have to build around.
the idea of different bridge pieces sounds like a fun idea, would it be similar to the special plants vs zombies rounds where give you random plants to place, but in this case bridges? there are some T-junction pieces in the tileset if you look closely btw. The idea of rocks in the way would 100% be a good addition if I improve the game.
With some refinement, this could be a properly good game. I would love to play a future version :)
Thanks for the support!
Nice idea, but I think the controls need work.
You need to use arrows and mouse, but then also use the numbers, it's just too far. I'd suggest changing to WASD, so that you can use the same hand for the numbers and movement. OR if you are already using the mouse, have the scroll wheel change which bridge you have active
Thanks for the feedback. I had planned to have a settings menu where the player could set their controls, though I'm not sure how good that would have been. I also thought that the numpad could be used to control the player, as it was close to the arrow keys. I did initially have a setup that changed which changed the bridge types in order, but I changed it because I thought it would be easier to play if the player could select their bridge type. I'll see if I can implement one of those solutions after the jam to improve the game.
Cool premise. I liked having to evade and build at the same time.
I'm not sure about having a hard limit on the piece count on the very first level.
Maybe it needs a tutorial level with unlimited building.
I add the piece count to create a bit more of a challenge, otherwise you can very easily escape. A tutorial level could be a good addition though, I might add it after the jam.
