Game Description
Anvils fall on you! avoid them! get the diamond!
How does your game tie into the theme?
ok so when the jam started I had no idea what to do. so I searched "forge" on google to maybe give me some ideas. first thing I saw was the minecraft forge modding tool. then I realized... minecraft has anvils. thats something you use to forge right? and they can fall on you to kill you. maybe I'll make something like that??? yes... anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk. bye.

Thank you for the submission! I wasn't ready to like this game as much as I did. It had a very addictive game loop (I'll just give it one more try...) and the core mechanic worked out wonderfully and was complimented by the good level design.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you put in the shadow anvil to help teach people how to use the anvils for good. I think that was really what made this game work for me, otherwise I might not have figured it out.
I would have liked to have a audio cue for when the anvil was going to fall, but it did make for some good moments of "Whew, glad I made that jump... oh F*** ANVIL!"
At first glance, I wasn't expecting much but I was wrong - this was actually super fun! Kept me playing despite being repeatedly crushed by the anvil.
This was surprisingly fun, but also quite frustrating with no checkpoints! The concept is silly but works quite well, and you came up with some interesting level designs to use it with. Nice game aside from the lack of checkpoints
Although extremely simple in its mechanics, and not very original in its graphics, this game amazed me. It's super fun! I think that this might be a great starting point for a rage game. Every time i died from an anvil i felt stupid, because even if i could perfectly saw it coming i still somehow managed to die from it, and this motivated me to keep playing.
Aside from the criticism that other people already mentioned, i would suggest to move the camera higher above the player, to allow you to see the anvils falling better.
Although I was a little disappointed to see Minecraft's Steve and sprites without any alteration, I WAS surprised by the gameplay. Having it teach the player very early on to not just avoid the anvils, but use them to progress, was pretty cool.
I was actually hooked, and it felt like I was getting pretty far when I made a mistake and had to unfortunately restart all the way at the beginning. Checkpoints would make this awesome~
Hard game (in a good way), and such a fun mechanic that you have to both avoid AND use the anvils falling down to get further in the game. The art does remind me of something though... hmm...
Five stars for originality. I played laughing out loud the first couple of minutes :-D
Maybe out the timer below the player character. Or instead of a timer with numbers, make a shrinking circle with dimming colors? Easier on the eyes that way.
I was really forging my way forward, i got bonked on the head many times D: but the replay ability is great!
