This is an entertaining endless(?) runner with just about exactly what you'd expect from it:  procedurally placed set-piece traps woven together to create an obstacle course amidst a iron-smelting factory (kudos for the period table reference!).  Solid art, solid audio, held together by totally functional mechanics.

My only complaint was that I often found myself seeing collectibles I knew I couldn't get, as they would take me directly into harms way, and I feel like that's sort of a middle-finger to the player: if it's there, I wanna be at least able to get it with the right skill level.  I admittedly don't play a lot of endless runners, though, so I don't know if that's just me fighting the status quo for the genre.

I had a brief blast with your game nonetheless! Well done, thanks for giving us a game to play!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The placement of the collectibles was meant to be more smart, but in the timeframe it just wasn't going to happen. Per "tile" it chooses a random lane (weighted so that the left and right lanes are more prominent) and places the collectibles in a line.

The side effect of having some collectibles impossible to get is frustrating, I get it. The upside from a gameplay perspective is that it encourages the player to take some risks to get them. Without the collectibles, the game is too easy! That being said, if we do more work on this post-jam, we plan to give way more attention to how collectibles works.

Very fun runner style game with great use of the jam theme! It definitely gave me that “just one more run” vibe!

I think my biggest issue with the game was the camera being statically placed at the center of the path, instead of behind Felix as I moved him left and right. Not even sure that the camera needed to stay exactly behind Felix, but I definitely felt that the camera should have shifted a little to the left or right when Felix moved in those directions.

Another small thing I saw (and only, really, near the first few minutes of play) was a small stuttering in the game rendering. Not sure if that might have been due to level generation… though I didn’t notice it in subsequent runs.

Over all, the art is great, the audio is well placed, making this an overall wonderful little game!

If you’re interested I played this during a stream :)

Thank you so much for playing our little roller, and streaming it too! - We're looking into the lag / stuttering issues and have taken note of the camera position for future releases. Concerning the Level Length it is just that, Short should you be able to complete in about 3-4 minutes if you dash and jump your way through, long will make the "production / obstacle line" longer (6-8 minutes to complete using dash) and endless is truly that.

Quite a fun game. I rarely play similar games, but I enjoyed it. It did feel challenging, but not too hard. Just the right level to keep you trying again and again, each time getting a bit further. Obstacles are very thematic, and I love the final little touch: the picture of a melted or quashed cube. Great game made with love!

Developer

Happy you enjoyed it - thank you for giving our game a go!

Really fun game executed really well. Good Art and Music.
I got some bugs like the camera would would zoom out and stay like that and the yellow cubes are not pickable sometimes. The area up to how much the obstacles effect is not telegraphed properly sometimes like with the press to middle one from both sides.

Developer(+1)

Yay! thank you for playing - we thought we had squished that bug with the camera zooming out, but looks like you managed to find a way to trigger it again. Thank you for letting us know, we'll try to fix it in future releases.

Great effort on a simple 3d game. Nice graphics, bit heavy on performance in browser.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words, we're aware of the performance issues and are trying to resolve it in a future release

A well-made endless runner. It's a bit challenging but not too challenging. Mac build seems to stutter quite a bit during the opening sequence of the game. But the stutter goes away after some time.

Developer

thanks for playing our little roller, sorry to hear about the issue with the Mac build, would you mind sharing what hardware and OS version you used

Submitted(+1)

I played the game on Macbook Pro 2019 with Monterey MacOS (12.3)

Nice to see a 3d game.  Lots of polish in the art and animations. It's one of those endless games you just want to keep playing.

Developer(+1)

Cheers! appreciate the kind words - and your time playing the game.

Submitted(+1)

Very well polished game! Although it lags quite a lot in the browser, its has big lag spikes that get you killed. It's good in the download version though!

Developer

Thank you very much, and again sorry for the lag issues in the web version.  Could you please tell us which setup and browser you used as we are trying to troubleshoot. Thank you again for playing our little game

My compliments to your 3D artist! Very good job on the aesthetics. A well-polished game, albeit fitting itself in kind of a mould ;-) Maybe whip up a game about fungal mushroom that won’t fit a mold next time?

Developer

Thank you for the compliments - highly appreciated, as it has been the first time 3D modelling and lighting  - so quite a learning curve!
We'll see what the next Jam we participate in throws at us, and if its mushrooms we might just borrow your idea ;-)

Really fun and beautiful game!

i couldnt figure out how to dodge the horizontal pistons, but beyond that it was fun :] a little bit of lag though, even without the web build (might be my setup though? arc cards hate running opengl so if you used that at all that probably caused the lag)

Developer

it might be the hardest one, you can kinda use dash speed to help time the pass, or jump the pistons on either side when the machine is in crush position. Thank you again for playing, glad you had fun.

Submitted(+1)

didnt know you could do either tbh, good to know

We love a good Wilhelm scream! Gorgeous graphics and sound design - love the use of lighting!

Love the graphics, and sound design! Lags a bit on my PC when dashing but no complaints other then that

I simply adore this type of game. I found the visuals really cute and loved the quality of the models. The lighting is also fantastic. The whole atmosphere of the production line is very cohesive. The game is a very fun and charismatic endless runner. And I couldn't help but burst out laughing every time I died and heard the Wilhelm scream. Really great game, congratulations.

Developer(+2)

Thanks so much, that's exactly the reaction I was hoping for. If they're going to give us the comedic death noise wildcard, what else am I supposed to do?

Awesome game. Only really weird thing I noticed was I was having a ton of loading lag during the gameplay (big hitches and stutters) and I don't have a weak rig at all (modern ryzen 5 and 3080ti). Game fits the theme super well, looks and sounds great, love the choice of sound for the game over too.

Developer(+1)

Was this using the web build? A native build will perform much better.

Thanks so much for playing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind feedback - sorry to hear about the loading lag, we will try to resolve this in a future build

Poor Felix... He died a lot...

Neat game! I saw the setting for Short/Long/Endless and I didn't any difference in the gameplay. I'm assuming based off the description that you ended up doing endless gameplay only? The visuals are great and I think you did a great job capturing the factory atmosphere! Well done!

Developer

He does die a lot... the gameplay is the same(randomised obstacles), however the length of the game differs - in SHORT and LONG you will reach a "Game Completed" screen, ENDLESS is well... endless. Thank you for the positive feedback and kind words.

Developer

yep that’s right. Short is about 3 minutes when dashing

Submitted(+1)

Amazing game! Kinda like Subway surfers meets PS1 graphics! I just wish the camera moved at least a bit when Felix moved side to side.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! happy you enjoyed it - will take note of the camera movement - was our first go at a 3D game, so still a lot to learn.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah i loved it Still afraid to try 3d lol!

Developer(+1)

definitively adds another dimension of challenges to consider and deal with – but hey!, we had fun creating and learning this week
