Great polish for a game jam!  The font was hard to read, I get that it worked thematically but I found myself skipping over the larger blocks of text.  The combat was also a struggle, I'm not sure quick hit ever landed and I only managed a few charged hits.

Some of the visual effects here were absolutely outstanding, particularly in a game jam! I also chuckled that you can opt to just accept your fate instead of trying to fight you way out and get booted back to the main menu :D.  The combat was very hard to work around though, it seemed like my sword was swinging the wrong direction sometimes and had very little impact on the enemies even when I did land it.

Whoa, the visual of this game is great. I love that the title seamlessly fades into the game scene.

I had a bit of a problem maneuvering around with the keys when the battle hit (maybe it was because ZQSD based?).

But anyway, great entry!

Thanks for playing! Normally you can use WASD. We're French developers and when we made the tutorial we forgot to change the letters, but they should work with WASD.

Oh vous venez de France? Cool!

Je vois et c'est pas grave! Merci pour me repondre :)

I can certainly feel the inscription inspiration on the overworld and the visual aesthetic is fantastic in this game. The text based adventure is well written as well for the style. the combat I could not get around tho. These axeemen are crazy strong and always kick my butt but I still had a fun experience.

Thank you for your comment, very happy to know you liked the story, you are right the idea of the game was to make kind of a mix of PathWay and Inscryption. The ennemies are too strong, we always have a hard time balancing our games :)

Good art, good style, good audio, but to be perfectly honest, I kinda found it boring. But I'm not much for story driven games with simple choices that ultimately take you to the same place. I also realized that I couldn't exit the game till I died somehow and got back to the main menu, or just use Alt-F4, so I gave you a low rating for controls and accessibility because of that.

Thanks for your review. You may not have come across it, but certain events have consequences for future events. We'll try to improve accessibility for our next games, thank you.

I couldn't get the Linux download to work unfortunately, as the cover image and screen shots look amazing.

If you're on Linux, don't forget to add the necessary permissions to make it executable:

chmod +x Baldr\'s\ Journey.x86_64

And normally, you can run the game with:

./Baldr\'s\ Journey.x86_64

I hope it works for you! 😊
