Really cool and funny concept! The dialogue is great, even the slightly broken English (like exclusively using "u") was really charming. As other people mentioned, it has some bugs and needs some polish, but I think you already know that, so I won't harp on it too much. You did a great job for your first jam entry!

Good Game. I liked the animation of the lamp and the music.

Its a good start. I will say the lack of feedback on hit combined with the light... bullet? passing straight through had me convinced the enemies weren't taking damage, though, so that's probably something to keep in mind for next time :]

Developer

Thanks, for the feedback. The problem is i used an asset pack for the enemy and it didn't have a hit animation. I wanted the light pellets/bullets to have the ability to hit multiple enemies and i just left it like this.

I was watching your progress on Discord too and I liked what I saw.

The idea was really interesting and I loved the idea of being a lamp and growing your light. The hopping light animation was great. It was definitely a little buggy and movement did not feel good because you could only move four directions as far as I know. But great job for a first jam! I hope to see you around more :

Thanks for the feedback. Will add 8 directional movement, but the saddest part is added the only four directions intenntionaly.

It was great getting to watch your progress on discord during the jam, glad I was able to find it! It’s like an alter origin story of the pixar lamp. Overall, worked well on my side with some minor bugs

  • the text into and dialogue UI had some minor issues with higher resolutions (1440p). Still totally playable, just minor displacement.
  • Lack of diagonal movement made some encounters tricky

Great art style!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I will fix those things, and definetely add more content to the game.

Hey i know this sounds kinda needy but what did u think of the game? Was it good or?

it was good! The lights were done well and mechanics worked well, especially for one of your first jams. There are always places to improve on in jam games, buts it’s all about finding the mid ground between content and polish, which I think you understood. Honestly, that’s the best lesson to learn early on and I’m looking forward to seeing your future stuff too. When it comes to improvement, I’d say that’s mainly just variety in gameplay, mechanics, etc. Think enemies, puzzles, etc

Developer

thanks, your words mean a lot. Wanted and knew how to make a ranged enemy but just didn't have time. Also wanted to improve the current one because it sucks.
