The game was beautifully done. The art was great, loved the palette giving the room an ectoplasm kind of feel.

The only thing, I think was on my end. I had to play on a browser so I couldn't always catch what the spirits were telling me because of the lag. >.< That was unfortunate for me it definitely felt like I was lacking in the empathy department when they'd get upset lol.

The minigames popping up and revealing I was more than just a therapist were pretty cool. They definitely amped me up to beat them. It was greatly crafted, I enjoyed the game.  Definitely taking notes XD

Thanks so much for the kind review :3 I'm really glad the mini game mechanics felt so good to people! If I do a version 2 I'll definitely revise a little how the narrative bits get to play into it.

I'm amazed at the quality of your game, to be honest. That was a lot of fun to play once I understood exactly what I was doing. Great work!

There are a lot of things that felt really good about this game.

The pace was fast enough to make it intense but still learnable on the fly.

The minigames, candles, tears, and wrath space bar and how they affected the "battle" felt really good for the most part.

Even after I started getting the hang of the gameplay, it was still engaging because it was still challenging enough.

The art was really great. You make the game not feel like its 2D with the perspectives chosen. The characters were well drawn and had funny dialogues. I also loved the comments in the chat boxes, I thought they were humorous.

In an attempt to give useful and helpful feedback, I think the only things I can mention are that sometimes the tears were difficult to catch, maybe impossible? And that felt a little frustrating.

I'm not sure if you were trying to make the player feel the mental strain a therapist feels but by the time it was Friday I was really looking forward for the week to be over.

All in all great game!

Really lovely game.  Good variety of mini-games. Art gave this a clot of character!

Only improvement I would make would be to have a tutorial section which explains the mechanics a bit more - obviously too intense to make it during jam time, but would be nice for a v2 :)

The game concept is really funny. I love the UX/Design. The mini-game looks good and made me think about the Undertale mini-games. It was a blast, and I love the art too. I see you used Godot. I would love to hear what you think about that engine. Very well done! I had a blast playing it. Keep on making games!

As feedback, maybe you could add an audio options menu. For me, the music was kind of loud, but otherwise, no comments!

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving feedback! :D

There is an audio options menu if you press Escape whilst the game is active (no other menu open) but on Itch.io that never works so nicely because it takes you out of full-screen as well. I agree though that I should add one to the main menu next time!

I reaaaaally really recommend Godot, especially for 2D games. It's quite easy to pick up, once you understand the node system it's really easy to experiment with it, and there are more and more tutorials for it all the time. I find it makes 2D games much easier than Unity and it has way better UI options than gamemaker, and it comes with a lot of features that I find really helpful. And being open-source is a great plus.

this is great, love the art style, mini games and the music.

Ngl this was probably the most polished game here. I think it may win.

This game was awesome! I loved the art style and the fun music. The minigames were the exact right difficulty (not too easy, not too hard). It took a little while for me to understand what was going on at the beginning, but I eventually got the hang of it. I think the player could greatly benefit from a short tutorial (it could even just be a UI panel quickly explaining when minigames appear, how the items work, how despair is basically is enemy health, and wrath is basically your own health). Overall, I really loved the feel of this game and how well it fits the theme. It's clear you put a lot of effort into this, so good job!

Absolutely, I wish I'd had time for a bit more of a tutorial, I realized watching some playtesters towards the end that it isn't as intuitive as I had believed, but that's always the case isn't it XD Thanks for playing!
