Underrated game! I really like the idea of Cold War chess. Like the others I unfortunately do not have anyone to play it with, but I messed around for a while seeing how it all worked and it's cool! Looking forward to trying vs AI in the future.

Amazing use of the theme, I intended to do something like your idea in my game

I read what you write about the ai or multiplayer so I have nothing to say

but really missing that made the game nearly unplayable, good luck next time

Never play chess against yourself? 🙂 Anyway, thanks for the feedback and otherwise hope you enjoyed the game

Interesting approach with good UX/UI. My only question is, why is a rook less expensive than a bishop? And it could just be my screen, but the text is incredibly small.

Going in I was expecting the Communist and Capitalist sides to have different abilities, from what I can tell they play exactly the same. Possible expansion in the future?

Developer

in this case the took piece was too powerful being able to move all the way across the board so I limited it to 3 squares. Hence it is cheaper than the bishop piece since it can still move it's full range.

I had considered different abilities for each side but I thought it was more balanced to keep them the same, and it fit with the theme since they both used the same tactics in the Cold War. However, if you look close the proxy war piece is an m16 for capitalism and an ak47 for Communism.

Overall though you have some good points and 7 days was not enough to properly balance a game like this. There is definitely opportunity for different game modes in the future where maybe each side has unique powers.

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback, I hope you enjoyed 🙂

oh my. Its been so weird to play a match against my self!  Looking forward to try it with some kind of artificial intelligence.

Fantastic approach of the theme.

Really fun game! While I was only able to play with myself atm I can see how it could be loads of fun together, an unique twist of the chess that is only really missing a computer opponenent when playing alone, although that would be really hard to implemenet in the allowed time

Developer

yep, AI was a stretch goal that I didn't have time for though I will be working on in a future update. Glad you enjoyed otherwise though, thanks for the feedback!

Conceptually, 12/5.  It would be really great with some AI (maybe I missed that).  Also, the ability to unclick a piece would be handy.

Thanks for playing! AI was a stretch girl that I wasn't able to make for the jam but it will be coming in a future update. You can deselect a piece by clicking off the board or on an invalid space though I agree it could be more intuitive or you should be able to deselect by clicking the same piece. Thank you for your feedback 🙂
