Good game, can't believe that it was made in a day
I wish some of the lcd art could've been more closely inspired by the mythology because other than the text on top this could be applied to almost any game. But created within a day? Impressive. The lo-fi graphics approach—brilliant execution.
Very unique idea! I love the presentation and it definitely feels like something grandma would pick up for you. I wish there was a score system, or something to know I was progressing/keeping me engaged. I wasn't sure if the Minotaur was killing me, or if I won and the level was just restarting. It also would have been fun to have more unique layout designs!
I think it's a super cool style. Reminds me of the tiger electronics games i had as a kid, haha.
That being said, I think the gameplay itself is hurt by that, alongside some other qualities, and it's too barebones to really judge for historical accuracy easily.
I'm giving a much smaller comment than usual on this because it's a very simple game:
Graphics:
Really cool and unique style, but not particularly pretty to the eye.
3/5
Gameplay:
Tile movement, maze game, find the keys type game. Does it well, no glaring issues, but i'd say the LCD style hurts the game feel for moving around.
2/5
Audio:
True to the inspiration, granted - this is pretty much how i remember LCD games sounding (well, when it was a one that actually had sound), but kind of annoying after a while. Does the job but I don't need my eardrums blasted every time i bump into a wall.
2/5
Thematic Relevancy:
Pretty good, it's the minotaur's labyrinth. It's a very simple interpretation that could quite literally be recast as anything else without changing anything about the game though, which is the only issue in this department to me: it's relevant to the theme, but not in any fundamental way besides telling us that this labyrinth is that one.
3/5
Historical Accuracy:
I mean, yeah? It doesn't really delve into the history in any detail, but that was a labyrinth as advertised.
3/5
I really enjoyed this, very creative idea.
Smart game well executed.
This is really great idea, just the thought of reimaging the Minotaur's labyrinth as an LCD game is genius. Well done!
