Sorry graphics are placeholders and no sound, but I wanted to practice coding and try this idea. First jam!

Congratulations on getting a working prototype and entering a game-jam! :D It's a very good start and I'm sure you'll do a lot of amazing things. :)

I like these sort of games a lot, and I played this one for a while. You have a good idea here and there's a lot of potential additions that could make this game a really cozy trading-game!

I second what has already been said previously as the first thing that really confused me was the inability to know what was actually carried on the ship.

A minor issue I had was the transparency of the ui-panels, it occasionally got very hard to read.

And also, a tip for you on this game and something to bring with you to future jams and projects: audio! I know few things that can elevate the feeling of a game more drastically than sound vs no sound. Just a little feedback on button clicks or ambience would add enormous value!

I hope you'll push an update post jam. I will gladly get back to try it again! :D

Thank you for trying it and thank you for the advice!

Interesting idea and having read your information about learning coding, a great first attempt. There are some problems with the interface that need sorting in particular loading/unloading cargo. I found it hard to tell what was on the ship.

It would also be good to have a general idea of what goods are in demand where so that you could make a decision on trading routes. Maybe through a Newspaper report - "Gold discovered in Niagara - lumber in huge demand" etc.

Yes, those things would make it much better!! Thank you. I am thinking to give it another go after game jam and will definitely incorporate these things.  Pretty hard to play a trading game when you have no idea of the markets or what you are trading! :)

Little bit confusing at first, but when it finally clicked, it became fun! Good job!

Developer

sorry about that! I'm glad you had some fun though, thanks for trying it!

Impressively complex considering the timeframe!

It reminds me of those old trading games like Uncharted for the SNES. Cool. :) It was a bit hard to understand at first but eventually I got it, hehe. Well done on your first working prototype. :)

Thank you for trying it and thank you for your kind feedback. Sorry there weren't any instructions! For some reason making this I was thinking a lot about the NES game Nobunaga's Ambition. Probably not a super popular one but I like games like that! :)
