Really good idea. It is a good game, i like the crativity in this game to implement the theme of the game jam. The only problem I see is the controls; are really uncomfortable. But it is an enjoyable game. Nice work!

Developer

Ok, good to know. Could you maybe elaborate which part of the movement wasn't good? Because it would be good to know, which part of the player-controller I should put more effort into in future projects.

Besides that, I'm very glad you enjoyed the game!

Well, the movement with arrows or AD is good, but the jump with space and take the number with E or mouse click are not so good. I think, jump actions could be done with W or up arrow, go down from platforms with S and taking the number could be better with E if the player uses WASD and if the player used arrows would be better with shift (I think even both cases is useful the shift key). I hope have been useful. Have a nice day!

Developer

Thank you for your elabiration. I see your point! Thank you!

The puzzles were good, but i hated the movement and controlls, it just didnt feel reliable, stable.

Developer

Oh, that's sad to hear :((
Could you maybe elaborate what there was that you didn't like?

Submitted(+1)

I was really impressed by this. I thought at first it was going to maybe be too simple because the numbered doors revealed the order of operations, but then as you introduced new mechanics it really added to the complexity in a good way. I even got stumped for a bit on level 10 trying to figure out how to get both 2 and 1 back. Having each number have its own special powers is a cool idea and I was looking forward to seeing each new power.

The dimension change mechanic was a little finnicky and I ended up clipping into a wall once, again in level 10, and had to restart. I almost got caught again when I dimension hopped in level 11, but I managed to get out of it somehow by jumping and dropping the number. I'd change the switch number/use power button to something other than right mouse, since during gameplay everything else uses the keyboard and it's not like we need to use the mouse to aim it.

If you wanted to build on this game later, I'd say give it another art pass for polish. The art itself is fine, it's just that some of it seems to be scaled up like the podiums and some of it seems to be scaled down like the robot, so his pixels get smooshed together and his arms disappear when he rotates. The red and green light on the weighted button also seems way thinner than anything else. You can variate line weight of course, but with pixel art it looks a lot cleaner if you establish a minimum pixel size and keep it standard across the entire project to keep it more cohesive looking. Now that you know how big everything is going to be, you can redraw it so the big objects have more detail and the small objects have less detail.

Regardless, this is a complete experience and a very fun game. Even little things like the bouncy black circle used in the level transitions are so polished. This is excellent, congrats!

Whow, that is a lot of feedback! I very much appreciate that you wnet deep into analyzing the whole game. Thank you!

About the controls: Even when developing the game I sometimes encountered that the player would suddenly clip into the wall when phasing through platforms or when teleporting, but at the end I decided to not really look too much into it, since it would take a lot of time to get the controller and collision working flawlessly. Though I do think that I have messed up when programming the controller, so maybe that had something to do with it. And everything can't be perfect in a 3 day GameJam ;)

I very much agree with you on the art. Because I'm not great at drawing I resorted to what I was able to do, and that was the result. As I was putting in the drawings into the game, the varying sizes and outlines of the different drawings were also kind of weird.

Either way, I am very glad you enjoyed playing it and gave all of this feedback! Thanks to you and people like you I can apply those feedbacks in later projects/GameJams. Thank you very, VERY much!

Was really surprised at how mechanically far you could take a platformer about numbers, the puzzles felt very nice and satisfying to complete and flowed very smoothly in terms of difficulty. Really good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

Nice puzzle platformer game!

Submitted(+1)

pretty game!

Submitted(+1)

Hey I had a blast playing this game, it's very well thought :D

Submitted(+1)

Nice little game, fit the theme and well polished, well done!

Submitted(+1)

Honestly this is pretty cool, I like how the numbers slowly but surely get unique mechanics that make the puzzles more complex with each one introduced, the puzzles are on the tough side but that's okay (I wish you could skip some levels though) The robot character is cute and the art is nice, I just wish there was more music as the song gets a bit too repetitive due to the short length of the track.

Developer(+1)

Indeed the music track is very short and very repetitive :(. I did need to create some music like 30 minutes before the deadline and had other things to finish as well. So that was the result. Though if you want, I could create a new track :D

Submitted

That would be nice of you to do that

Developer

I will do it then. Though for the duration of the voting, I won't change the music. Only after the voting has been finished. I want it to be fair for everyone, and not making small or even big changes throughout the voting. But trust me, I will do a new track and will tell you when!

Very awesome use of the theme! I love the use of the numbers and the cool puzzles that can be made with them! Great art too!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Took me some time to have every number be used in a special way.

Submitted(+1)

You made some pretty great puzzles, level 10 got me stuck for a while! Giving each number its own ability was a really unique use of the theme, and it served as an interesting mechanic. This is a really impressive first full game, great work!

Developer

I did make the difficulty curve a bit too steep, but still challenging at least. Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

nice game I really liked it!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the puzzle mechanic and the use of the theme, great job !!

Developer

Thank you! Appreciate it!

Submitted(+1)

Really nice puzzle! Artwork and sound effects are great! Could used "heavy three" a bit more and difficulty cure might be better. Otherwise I enjoyed this game so much! I couldn't think one person can make this in 3 days (even with game engine and late submissions)

Developer (1 edit)

Well I was very close to deadline, yeah. I did want to create more levels around the three and the button, but time ran out to create more levels, so I left it at that. Thank you very much tho!

Submitted(+1)

Favourite game so far! This was really well done, polished, lots of levels to play through (I finished it, it was really fun!) Some of the levels were really clever! The extras were fabulous I gotta say, everyone needs to play them ;DD

Developer

I am very, VERY glad you enjoyed playing it. It was the first time I put my all of my past skills into this game. Since I've never actually even finished a game, I was quite surprised what I was able to do. But I also found your game very hooking and funny!

Submitted

Absolutely, the fact that you also did the sound and art and even had time to make so many levels is awesome! That's where my game failed haha, put a lot of time into polish and not enough into actual gameplay. :D

Developer

You still managed to submit it in time tho. That's the most important part! I was stressing like 4 hours before deadline, trying to create some levels. But at least you and me submitted our games!

Developer

Btw, when you played Numbers Matter, did you notice, that in every level except the first one you collect all the numbers in the order of 3, 2, 1? A nice little easter egg I included ;)

Submitted

Oh wow you're right! Haha I didn't realise :D That's genius!

Submitted(+1)

This is really well-done.  A classic platformer with thoughtful, interesting mechanics.  I'm impressed you put 12 levels together in the time we had (and the theme is on-point here).

Pixel art is also nice.  My only critique would be the collision gets wonky sometimes, like on the edges of opened gates.  It would also be nice if you could just hold shift to fall through multiple platforms.

Great work!

Developer

Yeah. The collision had some problems sometimes, but wasn't reallly able to figure out why that happened. Maybe I messed up something in the player-controller and that messed things up a bit.

Falling through multiple platforms at a time should be possible with one script-line, which should do it. But I won't change too much now. Maybe later.

Thank you for your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game, I liked that each number had a unique ability and there are a lot of levels! Great job!

Developer

I had multiple Ideas for the abilities for numbers, like change gravity for example. But I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Developer

Today I've finally put out the web-version. There were some bugs when building the web version, so I do recommend you to play the downloaded version instead.

Submitted

This mechanic is pretty awesome. I could totally see this as a full game. Seriously, imagine if there was 5 numbers!? Or 10!?!?!?

Developer

OOOOOOh, would be vey interesting. But finding a mechanic for each number would be very difficult :D

Submitted(+1)

Really well thought out levels and fun to play too, nice game!
