Description
I never composed orchestral or ambience, I'm lacking a lot of experience on it. But it was fun to do!

I had a lot of troubles mixing and mastering. I did some tweaks but not too many. Just a few EQs and compression.

I always Appreciate any feedback to improve in the future!

Description of Setup (Optional)
All the instruments are from BBC Symphony Orchestra, except the choirs, those are from DSK ChoirZ with effects; and the piano is the stock Stage Piano from Fl Studio

Hey! I did a review of your entry via video. I posted it on the Jam discord but appreciate everyone might not be on there. Here's the video timestamp for your entry: https://youtu.be/1-aLhBdNCKE?t=7413

Agreed with everyone else, this is an amazing first orchestral piece! Absolutely love the composition and general theme of it, and it really fits the theme. And the variety and scale of it is truly awesome!

I do agree with some of the comments about the transitions, especially the cutoff around ~3:40. And if you're looking for some BBC Symphony alternatives/additions that lets you play with attack and release, Orchestools is another free one that you can mix in with the BBC instruments too add some extra layers which can help with that sometimes.

Like others have said, for a first orchestral composition this is fantastic.

As FoxHyode mentioned, studying some orchestration will help a lot.

Well composed.

I think because some of the midi stuff is a little jarring in its transition, that's where I'd say it starts to suffer from listenability.

Good attempt for first time orchestral and ambience, thats very ambitious and very hard to accomplish, you got a good sense of arrangment, just need some orchestration knowledge to know how to compose with all the instrument together, knowing the range of the instruments and so on.

I can tell that a lot of care was put into arranging these elements! I love the last section, and would have loved to hear that expanded more.

Lots of diversity in the sections, really dig that. Like a sunrise, then something goes wrong, rescue comes and we go up again. Good one!

Beautiful and dark, the soundtrack is medieval fantasy and quite martial. I feel like in the second half of the track a campaign to the neighbouring kingdom has started.

Those brass parts sound very Mahler-like the way you mixed them, wow! Overall, it’s a pretty trip and for being among your first times you’re doing great. One of the aspects I would improve is the way the low strings sound in the middle part while playing those long notes: they sound a bit too stiff with those little interruptions, maybe you could make them more “legato” between them.

Well done!

I hear what you mean, a disadvantage of BBC Symphony Orhchestra is I can't change the attack, velocity or anything really. Regardless, I think I know a workaround for it.

Thanks for the feedback!
