How did you implement the Theme and Special Object?
I made a santa character and he is a zombie and his name is Zanta and I made anvil fall from sky

Loved the retro vibe! Interesting use of the Anvils, was a lovely call back to nostalgia :)

Sometimes simple is better. Awesome job on this one - especially the curved effect on the monitor. Would you be able to rate my entry as well?

this was fun.  nice simple music.  I liked the background stars moving.  the hitbox for the anvils seems too big.  I finally died picking up a present, expecting to stop right before an anvil.  but i got speed, so i shot under the anvil anyway lol.  that was kinda fun.

Simple gameplay and the game is looking great. Some music and perhaps a bit more sound effects would have been great. Overall an okay little jam game.

Simple but great game.

I love how different gifts give you different buffs!

Fun game! I was hooked and wanted to keep playing. I think the music could have been more exciting for the type of feel, it would have made me want to keep playing even more! I think there could have been more consistency. The first couple of times I played there were multiple gifts, but then I hardly got any. The gifts make you want to keep going! Great work!

Really cool asthetic game it was simple to play the simple idea it really the charm

Also I do find some glitches here and there in the game but its quite polished

Great platformer with nice background music and sounds. One thing is that sometimes when anvil touches you, it doesn't count.

Super fun to play , however I would like if there was a warning were the anvils were going to drop before they came on screen because I often lost a life from anvils dropping when I had no way of escaping.

pretty decent simple game. One issue I have with it is that when the anvils reach the ground, there's an audio pop every time. Made listening to the music and the sound effects less pleasant. Otherwise, great game and congrats on your project!

Very impressive for three days and a cool aesthetic.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the post-processing is cool!

The graphics were quite good. The music was not the best, it sounded repetitive to me. I encountered many issues though. For one, sometimes the gifts would phase through the platform, maybe that was intended. Sometimes when you restart, the player also falls through the platform. When you restart, the speed at which the anvils fall does not reset and the anvils just get faster and faster.

Well, I understand why there are bugs, you only had three days.

Anyway, it was a good game.

Thank you for your feedback, One of my weakest points in game development is music and sound effects so if you have good resources to learn how to make good music and sound effects please share it with me, And for the bugs I will look into it, again thank you for your review

I am not very good at sound design either. I usually look for royalty-free sfx and music that fits well with my game.

A simple idea for the game, but how well it is implemented, the graphics are at the highest level!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, how do you make screen looks like that, it's so cool!

Submitted(+1)

nice post processing! The gradual speed increase is a nice touch too.

It´s like my game, but my santa breaks the anvils with snow balls. Your floor is way more resistant, I´ll give you that xd.

Simple concept, yet one of the most effective 'minigame' submissions to this jam. The curved screen and general VHS-like presentation really add a lot to the feel of this game, and the increased difficulty when you get further keeps the game from getting stale.

I do suppose that the sound design could use a bit of improvement, though. While atmospheric, the music is of course rather repetitive, and the anvil sound feels a bit dull, giving the fall less impact. Oh and one time my santa spawned underneath the platform, causing the game to softlock (although this did allow me to effortlessly reach a score of 100, so that's something).

Really thank you for the feedback one of my weakest point in game development is music and sound effects I'm trying to improved it right now so if you have good resources to learn how to music and sound effects please send it to me, Again thank you for your review

Of course!

When it comes to sound effects, the easiest way is to use royalty free samples (found for instance on Pixabay). If possible, I recommend using an audio program to edit the sounds as well, so that you can trim the sound down, add reverb/delay, edit the EQ using an equalizer (also great for editing out unwanted noise in the sample), etc.

Making music is a bit dicier, as there many factors coming together here. I recommend picking a program (be that a more simplistic/accessible one such as Garageband or Audacity, or a more expensive/professional one such as FL Studio or Ableton Live), and just start making stuff. Watching a handful of tutorials for both production and music theory can definitely help (one of my favourite YT channels for theory is 8-bit Music Theory, definitely check out "Music Theory Minute" if you're a beginner), but I'm personally of the opinion that nothing will teach you the ropes quite as well as just messing around until you're proud of something. It definitely helps to then compare your product to something you look up to, focussing on one or two aspects you want to improve upon at a time (e.g. song structure, compositional density, mixing, melody development etc.)

Anyway, hopefully that might give you some places to start!

Thank you very much you really helped me a lot I didn't know from where I should start . I will look into these channels and programs. you really made my day thank you
