Nice work on the game! I thought it was very charming all things considered despite you literally fighting for your life to stay alive although at one point I could just fire without moving and stay alive infinitely without going anywhere. It was after a 150x kill streak that I stopped because I wasn't going anywhere with it. Can't believe I'm saying this but maybe making it more challenging or at least making the player's abilities more restricted would have been the way to go to create a satisfying gameplay loop. But everything else about the game is well polished, the graphics, the art, the shooting (although shooting through walls makes it broken by default), the sound, enemy AI, etc. Anyways, congrats on your game!

Finally got to play this awesome game. Knew that it would be my jam since your WIP version in the discord server. Really unique and challenging game. I love the different control schemes that one could take if one specific one didn't work out for them. The gameplay surprised me and kept surprising me every time I died from how I kept getting off guard. Despite it being very simple, it has a very deep thought process behind it that you need to act quick and you need to act right. I managed to complete all the levels after being humbled in every single one (even in the tutorial from which then I knew I was cooked) and I think you should be giving yourself a lot of credit for this as this I imagine was not easy to balance. Congrats on your game!

I love the game's simplicity and how it kept telling me to quit despite how fun it was to jump around. The ending makes it feel cut short despite it literally being what was advertised, nothing, but I still really enjoyed the experience. The platforming felt satisfying to go through, the levels changed depending on the level, the freeze mechanic was decently implemented although I think it should've been the main focal point of the game since the levels afterwards had no real weight (or felt like it had no weight). Hopefully you'll stick with Godot for your next projects to come and congrats on your game!
Thanks! The first level was to show the basics of the gameplay loop which included finding a key to put into the machine to turn it off. I probably should've put a message saying you needed a key to turn off the freezer for the remaining levels. I will be looking into ways to load the game before hand because this was never a problem I had to think about for making 2D games with Godot but with 3D it would make sense since the amount of data that even a single 3D model stores no matter how small contains a lot more than the most detailed 2D image. Thanks for the feedback!
Goofy but the kind of goofy that makes you smile because you know it made between friends and passion. Really great game. I really liked the short narrative and the monster's mechanic that makes it easy to get used to but still freaks you out every time it comes close. The use of fog and dense snowfall really bring the atmosphere together along with the monster's footsteps as they get close and far away. Really liked the sound work in general here. Congrats on your game!
Cool game, I imagine that you were gonna use a shader to have the grass move around but couldn't get it finished in time. I like the concept and how well executed the main mechanic was to stay put (or in other words, freeze yourself) to be able to see the woof track in the snow. I thought the sound effects for the man breathing and the bell was a little tedious to hear after a little while with headphones on, didn't feel satisfying to listen to repeatedly for the 5 minutes it took me to beat the game. Though nonetheless, I like the world and atmosphere you built for the game, you had that nailed down to a tee. The footsteps helped as well to build the atmosphere. The only other criticisms I have is that I accidentally skipped the tutorial because the menu was in the top left and therefore couldn't read what it had to say and arrow keys for moving the camera around felt unnatural and a bit pointless tbh. But otherwise, congrats on your game!
Dang you cooked with this one and that's a big compliment considering my name. Really interesting how you implemented the freeze mechanic into the game, I only found out after the second level after struggling to open the door in the first level for like 5 minutes lol. Everything is well polished up to a tee and I love how the story is left ambiguous in the end as is. Really really liked the experience although it was admittedly very easy and very short. But for a first attempt, this is incredible. Congratulations!
Interesting game, I really love the uniqueness of this game of running a ski resort and have it be simplified to just figuring out how to make slopes that earn more money without interfering with other slopes. Love how polished it is too, I can't imagine how much of a migraine this must've given you to get everything done and working in time. The lack of sound does lower the experience a bit so I hope you'll be able to build upon this project or a similar project to this in the future because man, this is extremely good stuff. Congrats on your game!
Yeah I guess an explanation was due for this. Enemies are blind but can spot you in two ways: if you make a sound in the visual detection area given or you’re really really close to them. The answer to your question is that enemies will chase after you no matter what (even if you’re crouching) until you stay a couple seconds outside the sound detection area. If they don’t find you, they’ll go back to their previous position and continue walking in a cycle. The idea is that you could probably outsmart it by getting it stuck depending on which direction it chases you but honestly I should’ve put in an indicator to show that you could escape its detection area and a visual timer to let you know when it would stop chasing. That’s on me. The enemy A.I. was one of the first things I started working on with the project and only took until 39/55 hours spent total on the project (not just on that but on other parts of the game) to finally get it to work as intended. This was the most difficult part of the project to get right and while in the end it did work as intended, some of the initial logic put into its design may not be completely sensical for a blind creature. Thank you for playing the game and hopefully this serves as a satisfying answer to your question.
Thanks so much for the kind comments. I would’ve liked to at least put in some props at the end but there were various glaring problems that had to be solved so I just submitted the game after testing out all the fixed bugs and went to sleep as I hadn’t that much in 3 to 4 days. Next time I’ll try to be more structured and plan better so that there would be time to add props to keep it less confusing. Thanks for the comment!
I’m glad to hear the atmosphere did the trick. I’m saddened to hear the experience wasn’t too great because I didn’t optimize it as much as I could have. I couldn’t test it out on other computers to see how performance would differ so I did think that something like this would happen and I have no excuse for it. I’ll be taking this into account for the next game or game jam I take on and the others afterwards. Thank you so much for the comment. Merry Christmas!
After reading through your other comments, now I can understand the reason behind the state of the game. I was originally on board with having to dash to the top of a lighthouse with a you move time stops mechanic. But there's just way too many inconveniences like collisions in the world not properly working so you fall through it at times or the fact that you can't move the little bubble things while they're in your way and don't move on their own. The game is not well optimized but I do like the controls although I felt really uncomfortable sprinting with ctrl. I have high hopes that for the next game jam or next game in general that you make, you can complete your vision as that's what I can see you have for this game. I respect you publishing it anyways as I know this is something you will be taking to heart moving forward. Merry Christmas, congrats on your game, and never give up!
Yeah that's what I thought as well. I did go back to play with right hand on keys and left hand on z just like with other flash games and 2D platformers I played when I was a kid but it still felt off. I could try again later with WASD and J to see if I can get through but now trying that out now feels weird because I almost never use J in games lol. Nonetheless, you guys should feel proud you've completed a game for a game jam together which is no easy feat I can tell you. Thanks for the response!
Like the game, there's a lot of time that has to be spent slowly unfreezing the planet which is well executed in and of itself off the concept. The vibes reminded me of flash games from the 2000s. Only thing is the audio made me take off my headphones because listening to some of the sound effects over and over again made my ears uncomfortable. Nonetheless, congrats on your game!
One of my favorite games of the jam so far. Loved the simplicity of the game from its art style to its gameplay. I thought the name "primavera" (or spring) for a game that's supposed to have a frozen theme was unusual but after playing through it, you cooked with that title. Also love how peaceful it makes you feel even though you have to protect the ballerina from snowflakes that switch in all directions. Congrats on your game!
Yeah the gameplay is not quite at the level I would've preferred it to be at and that's just because some problems took too long to solve and there was no time to properly have friends game test the game since everything had to be polished eventually. I'm hoping for the next jam that I'll be able to deliver more balanced gameplay but I'm grateful you took the time to play it and enjoy the graphics and sound as that took some adjustment to get right.
Also is that an order or a threat, either way im down
WTH. Jesus Christ and Crackers my guy this felt epic and big despite it being for a game jam. I don't even know how you were able to get a smooth frozone like ice path maker mechanic working in time on top of everything else but my hat's off to you because it felt incredible. Incredible work, congrats on your game!
Really more than solid game. Everything was well balanced between the player's animations to the mechanics of the game that are simple to understand and get around. Love how much it trusts the player to get the hang of things and I only wish that it was a little bit longer. Otherwise, congrats on your game!
Liked the game, only thing is I went through two rounds and there was nothing preventing me from spamming the options just to keep my resources high and my freeze low. I got to 200+ days playing like this and it just made the core mechanics of the game unnecessary. I do like the designs of the cards and the meters though. With more measures to prevent something like this from happening, I think this would be a sick game as the sounds of the cards being picked and the man trying to survive with each round was really good too. Congrats on your game!
Short, fun and sweet game, would've liked to have sound effects enhance the experience a bit. I'm confused as to why you didn't use 3D GPUparticles or CPU particles for the snow and opted for a 2D solution over the screen. The controls were simple, I love coffee so you know I was gonna get on board from the get go to keep drinking, and the generation of new trees and obstacles was really well optimized and well done. Congrats on your game!
I like the concept of freezing bullets to use them as platforms to get past and I do think some of the first parts of it were decent but some parts just don't give you enough of a reasonable time window to progress properly. I think it's mainly due to the uncomfortable mapping of the controls as I would have to use the keyboard to be able to jump and shoot. I think it would've been better to leave the shooting to the mouse as there it's much more reasonable and comfortable for the user instead to get accustomed to the controls better and get past the levels. Nonetheless, a valiant effort for the jam. Congrats on your game!
Fun game. I'll be honest getting the crate over the ledges was painful but I managed to get it back in 13 minutes and 42 seconds. Really like how the game stretches over to have you take the crate all the way back through a ice chasm and that there were checkpoints so it wasn't tedious going all the way back. Only thing is I wished there was audio (or at least I didn't hear any in the html version) for everything as that would've enhanced the experience a lot more. Congrats on your game!
I like the concept of freezing objects to have skiers pass by but unfortunately idk if it was because of chrome shrinking the screen size or something but the gameplay was not my cup of tea. It got very difficult balancing seeing the skiers' trajectories and stopping the objects up above. Sometimes the skiers disappeared halfway even though there was no object up top and sometimes the objects didn't stop after clicking on them several times so spamming near the top wasn't an option for me. Nonetheless, congrats on your game!
Awesome game you guys made for the jam! From the main menu to the graphics to the actual gameplay, everything is well polished and very detailed. Would've liked to hear some sound effects for the tree moving both up and down or a count to see how many ornaments one needs to get but other than that nitpick, the gameplay was simple yet got me going to get at least most of the ornaments. Congrats on your game and Merry Christmas!
Yeah I included the freeze shotgun as a last resort as I wanted the players to rely more on sneaking past their aliens and be patient about their approach rather than attack and dash. Looking back I probably should've made it so that the shotgun would be a recommended use of action in some areas. Wanted to do something simple since I was experimenting with tools like Trenchbroom to design levels and get accustomed to the process of importing 3d models. Next time I'll work with someone else so I can have more time to design more levels for the player. Thanks so much for your reply!
I'll beat it eventually but as a game, it's pretty good. I'm currently frustrated out of my mind writing this as I'm at a part where I'll rip my hair strand by strand if I keep trying to get past this certain area so I'll just write down my good thoughts on it for now before I fully lose my insanity. Really interesting concept that of having to get a ball up the tower for a freeze themed game jam. The gameplay is well polished, the audio sounds crisp, the music's not bad, well presented with great visuals. Overall a really nice game besides the fact that it gets more frustrating than fun in the more difficult areas. I understand that's the point of the genre and your game lives up to the punishing part but idk. I might need to come back and finish it to see how I liked the full experience but there's other games from the jam I'd like to check out now. You can be proud of yourself with this one, really well polished challenging game. Congrats on your game!
Impressive game, I would've liked to see it be a bit more bright or at least more easy to identify which towers were not perfectly balanced. Love the graphics and the sounds though! Makes it feel very oldschool but the addition of PBR materials to it just made it feel more real. The HTML version didn't work well for me however but the Windows one worked just fine. Congrats on your game!
Really great game you all made! It took me a while to get the hang of the controls but once that time passed I was ripping through enemies like crazy and abusing the time stop ability like Dio. I also really like the artstyle as well and how you guys adopted the fundamentals of another game and transformed it into your own. The only thing I would've like to have seen personally is to a health bar on all the enemies to see how much damage I'm doing. That's the only thing I can really say is what I would've liked to see but overall, awesome game!
Decent first game, it does feel more like a gameplay demonstration than something short and sweet but really admire the effort for making it 3D. I just made my first 3D game for this jam as well and it's no joke. Congrats on your game! (BTW I got a score of 500 in one minute approximately idk how good that is or not.)
