How is your game related to the special object and theme?
The special object takes the form of a special turn your character can do in the shape of a candy cane. It is related to the theme because the more you progress through the game, the more speed you build up.

OMG. this was sooooo much fun! i loved the music. the distortion-y sound was just the kind of thing i love. I also really liked the starry background. very impressionist/surreal kinda art, which again i love. i found one spot where i could see the tiling of the background (bottom right of the image, i think?) - but all the other sides were flawless! the gameplay was smooth and responsive, and the candy cane turn was hilariously fun. great game.
That background actually took me multiple days lol. I am upset that it didn't tile well but I intended on it being the size of the full room and way miscalculated. Tysm :3
What did you make the background in?
Literally just MS Paint lol. I tried following a space painting tutorial and finished by coating the whole thing with black spray paint, super inefficient.
Try downloading gimp. It's like photoshop, but free/open source. With a single button, you can offset the image, and blend it accross the edges, and it it makes it look flawless when tiled.
How's the file size? I had to remove photoshop because those scratch discs got mega full
Hi! I quite enjoyed it. The graphics are a bit weaker but the overall gameplay and feel is really fun. Great job!
Also, your web build doesn't work. You need to tick This file will be played in the browser underneath th file in the edit tab on your page.
I got a little stressed working on my sprites I admit but I hope to improve them in a future director's cut or something after the jam. Also thanks for that heads up about the web build, though I almost don't want to make it work because its super buggy :/ but thanks for your rating regardless!
What engine did you use for it?
GMS2 :3
Oh, can't help you much with that, sorry.
captain forever
Thank you!
