If you dash next to the table you can go out of bounds on the map, if you walk up to the conveyor with a cane a popup telling you how to play comes up but can't be dismissed with the prompted key. and once picking up a candy cane there is a short delay where your movement is disabled.
Those are the ones i noticed when replaying.

This should be number one. The implementation of momentum is great (even though my feet look like they are bleeding on the brick) the upgrade system is phenomenal and educational. You really did a great job and I think if you had a webgl version ratings would be pouring in. Though I'm sure that's a limitation of the way you made the game and not lack of desire to have made a web version.
Keep it up.. If this is the quality of work in 7 days maybe I'll be playing your games on steam someday.
Fun little game!
I would agree that the punishment of falling should be enough for the player as they are losing progress. Killing them from fall damage doesn't really make sense in this type of game. Think of jump king when you fall you are already losing. You don't need that extra kick of losing completely because say you try for 10 minutes to get up an area you just lost that 10 minutes.
Like others said the platforms that fall apart are a bit misplaced in this type of game. It works if the player dies but otherwise not really as there is no way to progress again if you mess up.
Great job!
Really fun game! I can't believe this is so low rated. If you had a webgl version i have no doubts you would be near the top if not at the top.
My only suggestion is to add checkpoints somewhere. as i was trying to learn the mechanics it was really frustrating having to go back to the start every time.
Great game! Good job =)
Excellent entry. Like seriously you did a great job with polish and the art feels correct. The only note i would have is that since the player movement is so slow it feels too punishing if you fail a jump. having to slowly walk back hurt my feelings. You were one of the few that actually nailed a swinging mechanic as well so kudos! There were a lot of attempts and this one actually did it!
Great job! and well done! =)
Honestly great game! The tiling is definitely a little off that's okay though it's an easy fix really <3 The only thing I would say is the asteroids came out of nowhere and the parry wasn't quite responsive enough/forgiving enough to let you block them going high speeds.
You really killed it though I wish this entry had more votes.
Hey guys! I actually think this one has a lot of promise! It just needs more polish.
A couple notes:
- When jumping it would be good to have the camera pan down so that the player could see what is below them.
- There should be checkpoints along the level so that when you die you don't have to start back at the tutorial.
- It's hard to distinguish the background and foreground elements. I think a lot of it has to do with the background pixel density being so much bigger than the foreground.
- Attacking is a bit of a pain as it requires precision clicking? With a platformer it's probably better to do a swing attack or something similar if close range. So creating an area in front of the player that will damage enemies.
- As noted in other comments there are a few bugs here is what I ran into:
- health pickups stopped working
- Sprites for two enemies were missing/grey squares (guessing santa was one of them?)
Good Job on submitting! And ultimately good entry!
Oh! FYI the discord FAQ does say you can fix bugs in the game after the end of the jam:
"May I update my submission during the rating period/after the jam has ended?
Yes, you may. You will not be disqualified from the competition if the changes consist of:
-Fixing bugs and errors
-Adding tutorials or any explanations on the game's mechanics
You may only add more content, levels and/or other features not previously mentioned after the jam is over."
The platforming wasn't actually too bad! A couple notes on improvements would be there should be a restart or death box outside of the playable area, or no way to get outside the playable area. I fell off the map the first time and had to restart the entire game. Also the acceleration felt a bit off? santa started super slow it almost gave me the impression he was being held back. Not a huge gripe I would just make the movement snappier.
Good entry! I loved the dog and wish I saw more of him because that is a steller pixel art version of max.
Good Entry! I think the idea of falling and having to get back up to continue is super unique. I think you could improve the game a lot by fixing the slopes as they aren't very smooth for movement and jumping off, and fixing the platforms. I think both of these are pretty common issues. Look up coyote time for the platforms and check out this video (or a 2d equivalent) for the slopes. Additionally i would maybe put a one way collision on the platforms as it is quite frustrating hitting them with your head.
Good entry!
Fun little game! I would recommend a grace period for jumping. A lot of platformers will let you still jump just after leaving a platform. This makes it feel more fair to the player as they believe they are pressing the button at the right time, but in reality are not. Check this video out if you're interested in what i mean.
Per their faq on discord

I'm not really sure i understood the controls. If it's just left and right the control just isn't there to be able to move.. i feel like im missing something because i couldn't even get over the 2nd pillar. The concept is fun i like the kind of ragdoll hard to control game type it's just a bit too random. What i would suggest and maybe this is already implemented is having the ability to lock the hooks in place so it lets you have a bit more control when still being kind of wacky and all over the place.
