The devouring snake that eats everything.  great game from an old concept idea.

there is only one thing. can you make the firing power ups with the keyboard instead of mouse because the same hand that I use for the arrow keys I use also for the mouse.

Developer(+1)

Thanks!  I am glad you liked it.

I am getting multiple different desirements for controls.  Which leads me to a configuration of multiple control options, not a change in the controls.  Perhaps even allowing complete key-bind remapping.

A really unique twist on snake with some fun power-ups! Sound effects gave me a good grin as I was playing, and I love the level progression. Really fluid movement which is easy to learn and a little harder to master - a fun game, good submission!

Developer

Thanks I am glad you had fun.

It was interesting to be so long and passing through the other side of the screen.  I didn't find that powerups had much effect.  The burp gets kind of icky after a while.  But, other than this I liked how you split the Devourer's eyes and the ominous music, very terrifying.  Sharp controls and had not much trouble moving about. +Awesome for the star wars-esque intro xD.

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it!

I am looking to put a larger variety of sound effects in.  It does seem to get monotonous.

The power ups were running last minute and I did not get much of a chance to work on any balance for those.  Thanks for the feedback.

Man that snake has a really gluttonous sounding burp.

Developer

Thank you.  I am glad you found it appropriate.

Submitted(+1)

He was very gluttonous! xD Fun little game, would have been cool to have some speed up power ups or something, chasing planets was a bit of a pain at times! Great effort!

Developer(+1)

My brother wanted speed power ups too, but I ran out of time.  Lazers and area effect chomping won.

So great idea!  Speed ups are on the list.

A really fun and unique game, the art is pretty cool, and the gameplay is fun, really great game :D

Developer

Thanks for your encouragement.

Hilarious game! Something about the dramatic music and the super speedy planets and the face of that snake biting away just cracked me up! Very well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!  That was my 1st ever music made.  Just learned how to use LMMS, a free music app.

I downloaded Music Maker and I am looking at trying FL studio.  But those both look like they have a learning curve and I would want to purchase the upgraded licences.

Very nice game! It feels like a finished game with well working mechanics. Contrary to what others say I think the burping sounds are hilarious! did you record that yourself lol. rated dude, job well done ;)

Developer

Thanks!  I did record all the sound effects myself.  Noms and Burbs.

I was trying to add some variety with pitch but it broke the sound for some reason.  I tried lip smacking too, but those came out very bad.

I think it still need a greater variety of chomping sounds.

Really well made game. Liked the game-play, liked the music, didn't really like the SFX lol. The snake controlled really well, the story intro was nice, if there was one complaint I'd give it's that there were no hazards in the early game, so as long as you were careful you had nothing to worry about. All in all good job!

Developer(+1)

I will have to look into some hazard ideas.

I would still intend for the 1st levels to be easy, but it seems reasonable for each level to introduce something new instead of right now even level being mostly the same.

Cool growth mechanics,

i liked the power ups too,

Very accurate about the theme,

MARVELOUS SOUNDS EFFECTS (no kidding, just loved the burps)

Developer(+1)

Thanks.  These were my first sound effects I recorded myself!  First time using Audactiy.

Really great concept, and very much inline with the theme.  It managed to hold my attention quite well.  Great mechanics, especially how controlling the snake worked.

Developer

Thanks for the compliments!

Interesting but I feel like there is no goal (because of no challenge), I don't get why there is several level because it's the same level everytime (I stopped at level 8). But the gameplay is nice!

Developer

I think you are right.  It does need some progression as the levels change.  The 1st level has to be easy tutorial like almost.  So it could probably use less mechanics.  While later levels would need more mechanics.

I also wanted space to get bigger and bigger with each level, sort of like zooming out.

Submitted(+1)

Actually quite a fun and well thought out game. The sound effect is hilarious. I love that the snake catches even tiny pieces of food, and it got quite challenging in high levels as well.  This is definitely right on with the theme. I also appreciate the technical side of your game, I really like the movement of the tail, which is not easy to achieve. Letting player skip the intro and all is such a nice touch, although sometimes I just accidentally press the button and get to the next level. Its not a big deal but it takes away the satisfaction of enjoying the victory message before continuing to the next challenge. Left the nitpicking aside, this is a very solid entry!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the constructive feedback.

I have plans to improve the tail movement.  Right now each link is aiming for the middle on the link in front of it.  I am considering moving that aim to the end of the link, but that is harder than just getting the object's position.

I put the transitions on press instead of key down for that very reason, but it still seems to happen.  I would need to add a delay too.  Something like 1s of ignoring key presses and clicks?

Submitted

Yeah all those small tweaks could take up as much time as for implementing the tail system. I actually did that time out in one of my previous game and it seems to work, even just .5f worked for me. Pressing a specific key (space bar) is also a solution, but that requires more effort for players.
