The camera knockback effect seemed great for feedback at first, and then it got really annoying as I started noticing it more and then my eyes got used to it and stop noticing it. I don't think I'd use that kind of effect myself, I think maybe having the gun itself shake would have been less-effective but more sensible choice.

The maps eventually got very hard to navigate and find enemies. Having arrows that point towards enemies that are off-screen and sit on the edge of the screen would be a great addition to counter that issue.

Other than those 2 minor issues, I really enjoyed the game.

Really good job! I just played on livestream actually, but if I'm still streaming later when you are around I'd be happy to play it again!! I really loved the ability to basically possess the last enemy to shoot you before you die. Genius!!

this game is really fun, and the feedback is amazing, it is an amazing game overall, but Level 6 is the level I had most trouble with, as the enemies were really spread out so I couldn't find them, but other then that, this is a great game :D

I really like the feedback on this, and I'll happily look over the camera shake as I know it was left in almost accidently for the most part ;) The knockback was really satisfying, and the pro-gen was really impressive. Love the clean graphical style and your take on the theme too. Fluid controls and fun to play, great submission!

Nice little game! Kept me playing for a good while! There are a few issues with it that irk me, like the camera judder when you fire, that made me feel a bit sick.  Also due to the mazey nature of the levels, it would be cool if you had a minimap so you could see where the enemies are so you aren't walking around aimlessly for ages if there's like 1 guy left. Oh and last thing, it would be nice to have different sounds for different weapons, the "beep" sound gets a bit old after a while.  Feedback given on other things on Discord, but good effort both of you!

Hey I like your twist on classical shoot em up that enemies are not constantly coming at you but you need to go find them and kill them. It't pretty much like a doze for power since I know I cant die so Im seeking enemies like "Im gonna find you and Im gonna kill you" - being able to play recklessly is really fun! On a side note, my weapon is not necessarily more powerful every time I die, is that an intended feature? Some of the guns in the batch in really weak so I see myself committing suicide to get a better gun ;D. Small suggestion for post-jam: Let Tim's face also changes so we can see more expressions on his face LMAO. And I think you have friction on the character(?) because the walls are getting in the way of the movement on contact? If you do, maybe you can quickly set that to 0 for smoother movement. All in all, I had great fun. Good job!!

Developer(+2)

thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. When you die, you become the enemy that killed you - that's how it links to the theme (the whole death/rebirth cycle)! So that's why they're not more powerful each time :)

Ha yes, a few people have noticed that. I was dumb and set it to 1 instead of 0 and then promptly forgot to test it 😂

Ah ha! Then I need to bump up on the theme ;D. It wasn't very obvious so I didnt get that when I played. It also seems to me that the pool size for bullets is fixed, therefore there was one gun with yellow bullet has very short bullet lifetime if I hold the mouse - mush shorter than if I were to click. Maybe you can expand the pool size a bit if that was the problem.

Developer(+1)

Yeah it's not so obvious, I feel like a lot of people are missing that!

The bullet pool auto expands and doesn't touch objects that are active, so I'm not sure what that issue could be! If you walk forward, the bullets don't appear to move as fast and will stay on screen longer, so it's possible you're just seeing the normal end of life but moving forwards too I guess?

well the didn't let me win. got a blue screen of death :P.
but i like how the game is made.

dude that flamethrower is powerful as hell lol. Nice fun game chief, been playing it since the early builds. also additional points for tim's face!

Submitted(+2)

"It's all fun and games until you face a flamethrower enemy." Anyways. The game was very fun. I like the concept of becoming your killer. That would've been more obvious if there were different faced enemies and you got their face too. People like udemy guy and other funny people like that. The game was enjoyable but the screenshake was maybe just a little too much. Sound effects were boring. Music was nice. Graphics were bad in a good way. Overall very shitty game, I give it 10/10.

Developer

Haha yes, the knockback on the flamethrowers is insane 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed it, and now that you mention it yes the other faces would've been an excellent addition. Not too much work, either. Your comment about the screenshake has been noted, I'll be sure to crank it to 11 tone it down slightly in the future

Really enjoyed playing this, the variety of weapons was awesome, the graphics sound and music were all pretty good. The death mechanic where you take the form of your killer was really innovative. Only QOL improvement I would have liked to have seen was when you get down to the last 1-3 remaining enemies finding them is sometimes difficult, even a simple directional marker would have saved me giving up because I couldn't find the last enemy on my longest run at the game. Other than that the game was amazing!

Amazing, thank you for the wonderful feedback! We'll definitely keep it in mind. We're glad you enjoyed it.
