This is great! Surprisingly intuitive controls yet challenging to master. The enemies telegraph their hp/speed super well, and the bullets are distinct enough to immediately know how they work. The music was fine at first but by level 6 I was ready for a new track haha!
Yeah I wanted to have some new trach for harder levels, but well, find new track + add them, didn't find the time :D.
Thanks for the test and comment :).
Very interesting, unique and fun concept!! It was really one of the funniest games that I've played on this jam, good job! I managed to reach level 8. I liked the transition with the jam logo on the center, nice presentation. The only thing that kind of annoyed me a little bit was the music: I felt like I was watching a timelapse video on youtube haha, but other than that it was a great game!
Damn I think you're the first one not liking the music haha. Thanks for the test and comment :).
Very nice mood with the sounds, light and minimalistic design. At first I thought the gameplay was a bit too random, but once I played I realized you get enough time to crash your defenders onto enemies even if they're on the other side of the circle. Power ups are nice addition, tho sometimes I'd get the choice between 10% shoot and 20% shoot. Overall nice game, would look great on a mobile platform.
Hmm that's weird, all the bonus are hard coded and there's no 20% shoot, there's a 20% double shoot and 10% shoot respawn (that one is weird but dunno how to call it, basically, each bullet that touch an ennemy as X% to respawn).
Thanks for the test and the comment, I'm actually working on pushing it a little more to see if it still works great out of game jam!
Oh wow this is actually a pretty cool game! I enjoy playing it more then I expected! Well done!
The game mechanic reminds me of IO the wisp from dota 2 which I love back in the days hahaha. I can see this being a fun mini game to play on my mobile. Gotta love the powerups you get too, really adds to the progression of the game makes it feel a bit more fresh every new round.
The visual is nice and clean but I feel it'll be even better if the opponents and player aren't just simple shape. One way of doing it is that you could add a theme, for example you could theme it around immune system. Perhaps you start as a single cell that expels antibody to defend itself and those enemies are viruses/bacteria coming to attack you. And maybe every upgrade you'll add a new cell making you more powerful. Anyways that's just one of the many possibilities on how you could take it further ^_^ or at least something of sorts.
Oh also I think you should add a indicator where to bullets are being shot from, it'll allow the player to position and plan their rotation better, especially when the enemies are getting close.
Overall I really like this game, well done! keep up the good work!
The indicator was in my todolist, but, well, didn't make it :D.
Thanks for the feedback!
To the point, this was a excellent game! The visuals are clean and clear, the sounds are on point (love the sound when hitting an enemy), and the controls, while simple, are very responsive and intuitive! I also love how you added not just power-ups between levels, but a choice of power-up! That adds just that little extra!
For the core of the game, there really isn’t anything I can think to suggest that would improve the game. Mostly it would be stuff that would make my game easier, lol! I suppose, outside of the boss, I think it might have been cool if, for the “persistent bullets”, I could have control of their orbital radii to some degree.
At the boss… beyond the visual bug, it is definitely too long with the abilities given. Even if the “special” attack would regenerate a shot every 5 to 10 seconds, or after every 10 or 20 enemies destroyed, I think that would make the fight go a little faster. Also, it felt like, after the visual glitch occurred, all of the enemies just kinda stopped attacking. I lost all sense of threat in the end… which is definitely not something you want to have happen in your boss fight!
Over all, as I said, this is an excellent game and very well done!!
Very fun game. It didn't take too long for me to adjust to the controls. Maybe a small indicator where the next bullet would spawn can help. Good job!
Great work! The game's onboarding/difficulty-curve was great and I loved the fact that I had perks/upgrades to choose from. Visually amazing work as well, the effects and animations really help complete the game. Amazing job for just 2 days of work.
Really enjoyed this one. No real criticism except maybe I'd like a help section with some stuff explained, but then again, part of the charm is buying upgrades and seeing exactly what they do. Made it to level 8 so far, without using the special at all; somehow slipped my mind and I've just noticed :D.
Great take on the theme, no doubt. Chosen music was inobtrusive and pleasant. Would probably play nice on a gamepad.
I'm off to see if I can beat the boss! :D
A super simple yet very addictive mechanic! I would like to see more screen shakes, and particle effects but this is still a great game!
