Ask for help here. We got you :D
Scratch won’t be something we can help grow into game development, There are a lot of tools to be found, Scratch being more of a tool than a game engine. Just to say this jam is geared to push your development to more possibilities. Sorry if it’s a deal breaker, I hear great things about Godot and Lua, Unity was a nice step for me had a lot of tutorials and help.
Godot is a great starting off engine that is similar :D If the game can not be played on itch than the community would have a hard time finding it. We have a wide range of ages and skills.
The community is a welcoming one, for starting out kids too. Some people still haven’t picked something to use. If you understand Scratch then you are well on your way to learn something more, we will be here to help you expand your new skills. If you want to, no pressure just a helping hand to you. Let me know what you think of this.
MAKE IT YOURSELF - You must make all assets and code yourself or by your team within the time frame of this jam. Any templates and/or pre-built games will not count in the originality department. This jam is intended to practice your critical thinking, creative and coding skills, not copy and paste. Any of these will apply to the Originality category.
What looks too complicated? Have you asked in our discord, that has more eyes to help you if you get stuck or want an opinion on something, this jam is all about learning a new skill and applying it to game development with a nice little more than a week to make something. You are always welcome to join any of our jams! <3
We have a place in our discord for those looking for a team. We have a lot of different minds, and creative people to help you grow. It is a world with a lot of programmers (myself included) but that is not to say no one is looking. Everyone has a different take on the same thing, same thing for coders.
I hope you are able to find a team or collab with someone, you can also use the Team Find area in our itch page, https://itch.io/jam/level-up-circle-beginner-jam-1/topic/1361423/team-find-here or head into our discord and find someone cool to work with! https://discord.gg/hUx3PBXp4Y
From what I understand, its an add on to a game engine. tbh I find this a little confusing so don’t feel bad, I know more in Unity and C# which is a fun language to learn, also Unity has a great community to learn tutorials and they have fallow along online classes occasionally. I know it didn’t answer your question, if you need more help I would ask in the discord :D We have a lot of smart minds.
