Did you work in a team?
Just me. I really enjoyed it!
Was the resolution a challenge?
I was going to make a helicopter game, but I couldn't get the 'copter to look anything close to decent, so completely changed my game idea!
I then designed the player's 3D ship to render nicely into the limited resolution - with big, square features!
What did you learn?
I had never made a racing AI before, so that was a first. I learned how to bake AI data into the track data. The AI's still a bit flaky, but it works well enough for now.

Very cool little game and extra points for Godot :)
Thanks! I absolutely LOVE Godot - it's everything Unity should be and more!
Nice controls and good sense of speed, would be good if there were more tracks. Played the one track a few times, was fun, had some close calls making first place.
Nice! Thanks! I really want to come back to this and put in more tracks.
This has the potential to be a great racing game. The controls feel quite good! I wish there was more tracks, because I want to play this game more. One thing I'd like to see is a lap timer and a total time -- that would totally let me race more and see my improvement. Sweet entry for the jam.
Thanks for the tip! The original gives you a laptime and position summary for each lap. I really wanted to get something like that implemented. I guess it'd have to be a scroll-in once the main 'finished' thing has displayed. Getting a timer onto the racing screen might be a squeeze.
Really cool soundtrack and tight controls! Solid homage to FZero in 64 pixels!
Thanks for your feedback! I'm really glad you like it!
The music is by Joshua McLean - his itch page has loads of tracks for jams.
This was pretty fun! It's a fairly accurate adaptation of F-Zero, and with a little bit more time to add boosts, damage, and more tracks, it could be a worthy 64x64 contender to it's namesake.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm really flattered you think it's got potential to be even close to the original. :)
Love this. one of the ideas i really wanted to do for this jam was an f zero- like. Super cool
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it!
Allright so first of all I am a HUGE FZero fan from the early SNES days.
What I loved :
The controls were amazing, flying the ship around was butter smooth. The audio was amazing, loved the music, engine swhooshing sound, and the fast gameplay. Loved the menu and attention to details in the fonts. I also really loved the raw 3d graphics, perfect for this jam
What I would have loved to see if you had more time:
Accelerators on the track. More than 1 track. More difficult AI.
What I would change:
The texture on the track was a bit too noisy and didn't quite fit the style.
One of the best entries for me, but hey I'm a nostalgic at heart :)
Thanks! I'm glad you liked so much about it!
There's so much I wanted to put in but didn't have time - like the accelerators, jumps, darker 'slow' areas, etc.
Thanks for the pointer with the texture too - that kind of artistic judgement is not one of my strengths!
Hey, great job on the game, really wish there were more levels. I wanted to do something similar but couldn't figure out the AI to be honest so i just went with an out run the timer type of racer.
Check mine out if you have a moment.
BTW, an copter game sounds cool, maybe for another jam?
Thanks for the feedback! I'm really disappointed myself that I didn't get more levels in. Maybe post-jam I can update it.
I am determined to build a helicopter game, but I think I need more pixels to pull it off!
