I think the graphical effects in this submission are very inspired. Just the little "charging" wisp on your hand is very stylish. Graphics are top-notch overall.

Also, the combat system is clever, more puzzle-like than I first thought. A great concept that perhaps could be developed further!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! :)

Amazing entry! It's the definition of focusing your energy where it counts.

The gameplay loop is easy to grasp and very rewarding, even more so with the chunky sound and particles. The reaction times are perfect.

I'm sure it's because of time restrictions, but what undersold the game was the hand graphic that is what the player sees the most. It's not polished or animated as well as the enemies and items. The game over screen seems rushed too.

But honestly, I only point to these details because simply adding more variety and complexity to the level generator would totally make a fun full game experience. Top notch work.

A very good first person horror game, the ambiant sounds were very good. Mana was always too low, especially on levels with big mazes and lot of zombies. What does the green square do ?

Developer(+1)

Thanks, glad you liked it! You're probably right about the amount of mana versus the number of enemies in later levels. We just ran out of time to balance that better. :)

I think the green square you're referring to is the health pickup. It should restore one hit point. :)

I think this game is pretty much perfect. It held my attention longer than any entry so far. It  takes a little bit of time to figure out mechanics, such as the fact that you can only use the attack so many times in a level, and makes perfect sense after that. I thought the enemies were easily dodgeable until they weren't (got to 5 at most). Music and sounds were awesome! Both attack and teleportation looked and sounded very cool! I liked that we could use our ears to find the teleporter, which makes one listen more closely and that serves to make the game more immersive

First off, the attack is the best thing about this game. So satisfying, but I wish I would be able to use it more than a few times per level. The level design is mazelike, which I'm not a big fan of, but there are lights in the ceiling that help you find your way (I think) and the exit portal makes sound when you start to get close to it. I wish I could just try the level again when dying, instead of going back to level 1. Rolling past multiple enemies seems easy... until it isn't and you get instagibbed.

I get what you're saying about using the attack more. It's one of our favorite things as well. The original idea was to have the game be more combat focused, but it turned out to be way too easy (boring even) and we found that having to carefully manage your shots made the game more tense. The alternative would have been to program more challenging enemies, which might have been the better solution, but we simply didn't have the time to do so. :)

Thanks for your feedback and for playing!
