Aw man, this is just plain delightful. I only managed to grab a blue powerup—there was a red one on screen when I ate my final bug and achieved my final form. Talk about bittersweet endings, hahah.

This was a nice game, reminds me of agar.io! I just felt that the movement was kind of awkward (since you had to snap to the 64x64 pixels). Also sometimes a bigger glowbug would spontaneously generate and eat me haha.

Good game. It surprised me that it wasn't an endless game. (But I don't mind it.) Creating a bigger game like this will be a good idea.

Fun little game! It slightly reminded me of the cell stage in spore. I definitely like the idea! Reading the comments, I don't think I got to the final size, so I'll probably go back and try again sometime. Nice job.

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for playing! Yeah, the last 2 stages of growth are kind of the end since nothing bigger spawns that can eat you. Unfortunately I only had 4 days total to get this done so I rushed the end-game portion just to get something in haha!

This was a fun little game. I liked the feeling of exponential growth, though I wish there were more bug types so you can grow even bigger :P

I did it final form \o/ Took me a few tries to NOT fly into the fatter circles cos they looked pretty similar ^^ also both times I used the explosion I died, and the 1 time I used speed it was too floaty and I went into a bigger bug. This was such a great Idea though, and imagine expanding on it, bringing in more species and a larger world would be incredible :) great work!

Thanks for the feedback! I do want to upgrade it to a slightly higher resolution version and polish it more, I only had 4 days to spend making it so I kinda rushed the enemy AI and powerup mechanics. Appreciate you playing it, Ill check out your submission here soon!

Really liked this game, very simple and fun. And I really like the background and how you can explore around it even though it's not required.

A couple things I thought might be an improvement: Different colors for the different levels of enemy firefly. As they're all purple it took me a double take to work it out sometimes. And when you're the big bug there's literally nothing to stop you, but it's really hard to catch things as you powerslide all over the place! :P

I didn't really use the power ups, although the shield did come in handy a couple times.

Really cool!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, that means a lot to me. I do think enemy colors would be a better signifier of size since they only incrementally grow by a few pixels. Yeah the controls for the biggest phase need some work, that big bug was supposed to be a boss fight but I ran out of time so I just added it as the last growth phase haha.

I had fun playing this. Fireflies were a really smart way to work within the resolution restrictions. Only issue I had was not realizing I needed the power ups to use the abilities but that was probably because of my lack of reading. Really good job.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! I appreciate it. If I had more time I'd make the UI and powerup mechanics a bit more obvious and make more sense to the player, they were kind of a last minute addition.

A fun little toy! With some polishing I can tell it'd be an engaging game too. Do you grow in size? The best I can do is bring an entourage of purple bugs with me while I hunt for single-dot bugs I can eat. I haven't gotten far enough to be able to consume my entourage, if that's possible at all.

Thank you for this feedback. Yeah, I wish I spent more than 4 days that I had free to work more on it! You do grow if you eat 10 bugs, and there are 5 stages of growth. I need to make that more obvious in the UI and details though, thank you so much for playing it and giving me feedback I really appreciate that!
