My newphew already loves it!

I also included it in an article of my favorite games from this jam here.

Nice use of the default sounds for the dialogue engine :D

Very nice Zelda-like game! I'm impressed. One of my favorite jam entries so far.

Surprisingly full of content, simple to pick up and definitely feels like a solid zelda game. I think my only real comment is that i didn't feel like the sword swing, typewriter noise, and character's voice matched the look and feel of the game. The music was spot on with what I expected, but the sound effects, I felt, weren't in line with the visuals. Also, LOVED the ocean sound at the start, felt really cool.

The game was surprisingly expansive. It reminds me of various Zelda and Zelda-like games: Link's Awakening, Minish Cap, Secret of Mana, and Soul Blazer. The animations and colours are really well done.

Wow, the game is really impressive for a jam. It feels polished, it looks great and seems to have a lot of content. Awesome work!

Great work, the colours are so pretty, and it seems like a very polished game. And what a violent death XD

Fantastic artwork! Great job!

Cool, polished game! I really like it! Nice artwork and music, good gameplay. The small fonts are... well, small and readable. The combat is simple and satisfying.

Lovely, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Low Rez Jam games, if you would like to take a look :)

1.1 changelog:

  • Music for Haunted Woods and Western Banks has been switched and is now correct.
  • Music for Haunted Woods now correctly plays when entering the area.
  • Gap in the collision detection near the Western Banks key has been filled.
  • The 2 spiky pillars near the Western Banks key have been tweaked, so they are now avoidable.
  • The EXE file now has a custom Legend of Xenia icon.

I'm also looking into getting Mac and Linux builds compiled.

Really enjoyed the game, the art was great :) You should continue making the game, I think it could be a good full game :D

The art and animations are great, I love how the game looks. The gameplay is classic and fun. Overall great game.

Very nice art style and gameplay, it has potential to be a bigger game, think about it!

As I told you before, your entry looks really nice. There are great details such as HUD opacity change or being able to select screen size. I also liked the game although it could be easily speedrun and wouldn't take much time. I actually removed every bush and killed every monster. Those slimes are really annoying :) I think this could turn into a full game easy. You can also expand the screen if that would be the case. Um another thing is maybe mana/stamina regeneration is a little slow but that's just a detail.

There's some funny business going on with the music tracks in the East and West areas. First of all the tracks are accidentally switched, and second of all one of them doesn't even play at all. The music's volume in general could also be better balanced. I will fix these issues as soon as I awake from my post-gamejam sleep.
