Easily spent nearly half an hour playing this one. It was very difficult to get anywhere from the start, but once I had managed to get enough tadpoles the difficulty balanced out a little bit. Quite easy to play for a long time and managed to find somewhat of a tactic. Very well thought out central mechanic of bullets only damaging enemies after one bounce but then damaging you on two, I think this is what I struggled with at the beginning with only one tadpole but once I had a lot it became both easier and harder, like dancing with knives.
I don't know quite what the vending machine did with items having 10-100% values, I knew it did upgrades but I didn't quite understand. But the art and sfx in this was amazing too, and overall a nice game to play. Great work!
I have an idea, have you thought about adding recoil?
I thought about it, but ultimately decided it wouldn't work. Part of the intensity of the game is that while shooting you are also moving toward your target, and recoil would counter that.
Cool
You did an amazing job coming up with a creative concept out of the prompt and developing it into a wonderful game. The first thing I noticed was the UI, I loved it! It's something that's less of a priority in game jams so it was nice to see how much effort you put into it. The mechanics took a while for me to get the hang of but you slowly get used to it. I love the art and animations, it gives the game feel a humongous boost. The SFX were also great and just made everything more satisfying. The game feels so smooth and polished, you could probably publish this and nobody would realize it was only made in 10 days. Great work!
Thanks, this comment was really nice to read. I appreciate it.
Love the concept, art, sounds and how frustratingly fun it is hahaha
amazing game, its super hard but i like
Wow this is amazing! Was super hard but at the beginning, but that just encouraged me more to play it. Got a high score of 11700 woohoo
good game love the pixel art but its really hard
good game love the pixel art but its really hard
Had a really good time with this game. The polish is amazing and the game is designed very well. Look forward to checking out your other projects!
I love how polished the game is
Love the graphics and the concept! Gameplay feels good but a little hard. By the time I managed to hit enemies I was too far away to get up to them and pop them! It did encourage me to keep playing though which is great for an arcadey game like this! All in all a great game though!
Sick game! It took me a minute to get going, but I really appreciated the art style, the music, and the sound effects. This is a very cohesive game and I like how you interpreted your themes
Very nice visuals, art style and animations! Also very original. Is it just me or is the difficulty curve inverted? It feels much harder at the beggining. It's a bit hard to dodge projectiles because the tadpoles are turning slowly. I also wanted to mention that the ambient sounds and music fit perfectly! The color palette is awesome.
I can see this game placing high. Good job!
This is a *really* cool game! At first I struggled a bit, but once I got my bearings, it all clicked. I think my favourite part is actually having to be concious of when and where you shoot as it'll eventually bounce back off the walls and become a threat. It all feels very polished too, from sound to UI and game feel. Great work on this one.
A neat concept in a nice, polished package! Mechanics are tricky to get used to at first, but hooks you before long. Good job, Phibian!
The graphics look so simple yet work so effectively, the colours used really make everything stand out and the music fits the game really nicely! I found the mechanics a little tricky to utilise and found that it was rare i was able to hit enemies without also hitting myself, but the game was nicely addicting as i really wanted to keep playing and beat my miserable score ;) it looks very cool without really trying, sick job man!! - peardropsz & borro
Very nice and polished game, hard at the beginning but once you get used to it it's very addicting :D Got 25k high score, died to a darn snail haha
Yeah haha, I was definitely channeling evil when I designed the snails
What an addictive game! It took me a bit to understand the mechanics, but once you get the bubbles bouncing and understand how to move, it's a joy to play. Love the art work, sound design, and in particular the animations and micro interactions are absolutely brilliant. Congratulations!
Little too hard, but it was fun.
