Notes from gameplay:

- Main menu has a great background image, immediately sets the tone for an old-fashioned horror game

- Text is a bit too stylized to easily read

- I like the mouseover going white for options

- Main menu music is atmospheric

- Game intro text from the main character is decent, establishes what's going on and what the basic mechanics and layout are

- Visuals are simple but cohesive, except inventory doesn't seem to match. I like the torn paper, but the assets here aren't pixelated

- I found a stick :D

- ESC is VERY useful! Is the game paused while in this menu? Edit: Noooope it's not, I died reading stuff

- Game looks quite complex and detailed!

- Is there a map?

- Collision radius for scenery seems quite large

- Phew, made it inside as a zombie was coming for me

- Interior reminds me of Stardew Valley barn

- Dropped items seem to be deleted. Oops

- Found an empty chest - what's that for?

- Digging the survival crafting vibe, but can't seem to figure out how to make stuff. Maybe I need to find more things. All i've found are sticks, rope, water and food (3 buildings)

- Died again

- Background music would be nice

- AHHH found a crafting workbench

- Visual feedback for crafting would be nice, same for equipping a weapon. Unsure if I'm wielding anything. Edit: wasn't clicking it at the base of the image

- Tooltips for inventory items are a nice touch

- I crafted a bat! Took me a while to equip it, doesn't seem like the entire image is mapped for clickability

- Space didn't seem to work for attacking

- The delay to enter a safe zone is nice, adds an extra level of difficulty

Seems like a very intricate and complex game - nice job! The art style is cohesive and there are tons of things to do which overall create a tense survival game. Great work!

Thanks for the extensive review!

Here are some answers:

- Empty chests are for storing your items in it. Your inventory has only 20 slots, you will fill it quickly

- To equip a weapon you have to click it in your inventory. Clicking items has a little trick that I didn't have time to change, you have to click the actual outline of the item texture. To unequip, click it again. When interacting with a chest, because of reordering of items, weapons will be unequipped (unintended effect of inventory design)

- To hit a zombie you must have a weapon equipped and press space while a zombie is in your proximity (which is a very small area, if you are not careful the zombie will hit you too). With guns (which are found in military hangars accessible only at night) you have to hold left-click to shoot, and have bullets

- Most weapons are not well mapped to the character when equipped. This would have taken a lot more time, since you need a new frame for every animation times every weapon. I would have done it if I had an extra day. Only the rifle is fully mapped when equipped.

Ending is sometimes bugged, will fix after the jam.

Good game! there is a lot packed into this game for a months worth of development. A couple issues I ran into was I couldn't really figure out how to craft & some of the environment collisions could be tweaked. Obviously polish isn't the highest priority when making a game this big in a short time frame.

Developer

Thank you!

To craft you have to find a building with a crafting table, access it and left-click on the item's icon that you want to craft.

Fantastic entry! I loved the  amount of polish this had - unique sound effects for walkable surfaces, the art is dreary but intuitive. The crafting system is simple and fun, and trying to find that last item you need for a recipe is nerve wracking! I would definitely love to see this game worked further - more zombies, different zombie types, and some additional polish on the artwork would make this a very solid game!

Developer

Thank you!

I might actually update and polish the game after the jam!
