I wasn't able to finish the game (my pc can't handle the game sadly. not sure if it's just because chrome is eating too much RAM), but I love the representation of OCD where the Leonard initially acts "normal" but has these sudden thoughts of "did i turn off the stove?" and has to repeatedly check the stove. Even though I was only able to play the first few parts, it was able to show how debilitating OCD is.

I like the representation and how you did not try to glorify it nor belittle it. You just presented it as it is. Exceptional work!

Hi Wings-poo,

thank you for the kind words and for trying our little game.  We've been thinking a lot about how to provide a plausible representation of the condition, and especially how to incorporate it into the game mechanics without trivializing or romanticizing it.

Anyway, we hope you'll have a chance to continue with the game-there are some “variations on the theme” that we think you could find interesting :)

Is there a chance that you would be able to release a pc-version of the game? Maybe my pc could handle it if ever. But if not, I'll try to continue the game on web. I really want to see how the story unfolds.

Developer(+1)

We released the game with a browser version in order to make it accessible to more people, but unfortunately, as in your case, this is not always the case. We'll consider releasing a downloadable version in the future :)

Thanks! Apologies for the selfish request just because my pc is weak 😭

Such an interesting take on anxiety and OCDs, I loved how it's translated into the game ! The art is amazing as well, well done !!

Thank you for playing and for the kind words :) We're happy you liked it!

The game is amazing! I might not be able to relate with Leonard, but the game's story manages to convey his struggle very well that I empathize with him. I also love the world building with the various side quests with Leonard's neighbors (especially the cat lol). My only problem when playing would be me accidentally clicking the upward stair when I want to go down, but other than that, the experience is seamless! Well done, guys!

Developer

Hi Raye :) Thank you for playing and for the kind words. We loved the cat too <3

As others have pointed out the closing vision and heartbeat was a compelling way to depict a panic attack.  Very well written and concise.  Effectively pulls us into Leonard's headspace immediately.  I can't wait to see what yall make next

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the kind words :) We're glad you liked it and can't wait too to see where this path will take us!

I very much liked the game overall, it was phenomenally polished and a great self-contained story.

I know it seems like an inconsequential detail, but I genuinely was glad that there was an elevator and also a story reason as to why the character didn't use it. If there was just the elevator there but you couldn't interact with it, or no elevator at all in a six story building, I would have been thinking about that the entire play-through.

Like others have mentioned, the field of vision changing and the sound design when in a panic really brought me into it as a player. I was honestly worried that I would have to go back up after taking the picture, because I was thinking to myself "Well what if my phone put the wrong timestamp on this picture and I didn't actually take it this morning."

I think this is a perfect little look into a small window of someones life and seeing their struggles. Struggles that an average passerby, coworker, or friend wouldn't normally see or often even consider.

Developer

Hi Chipper Deer Studio
Thank you for this thoughtful feedback :)

I'm glad that the visual choices and sound design helped to bring you into the mindset of the protagonist - our goal was exactly to give back a glimpse into Leonard life and foster identification.

Ah man what a sweet game. Unfortunately I couldn't relate to Leonard because he's so incredibly thoughtful haha. But nah, the level of polish is unbelievable, and the sound design was a really nice touch.

I'm glad I had that wee choice at the end. Also very nice touch with the long stairwell as well haha, I feel like I've been there before. And everything felt very intuitive. Little things like putting the cat doormat outside the cat owner's house go so far. You're some really talented guys!

Developer(+1)

Hi Jacob,
we're glad you liked the game and appreciated the little details we included here and there. The effect we wanted to achieve with the long stairwell was exactly that excessive repetition, even at the cost of making the player experience some frustration (similar to that experienced during an episode of OCD).

Again, thank you for the kind words and congratulations again on your entry.

Really nice game, the writing is great, I like the little stories with the neighbors and I adore Cassius! The music and sound are also well done! Great job with this project!

Developer(+1)

Hi Yutami,
we're glad you liked the game and thank you for the kind words. We're sure Cassius would be happy too :) Also, congratulations on unlocking all the achievements!

this game captures the worry and anxiety of OCD so well - the use of the quest system to mix in the persistent worry with the everyday tasks, and the reduction of vision were really effective!

Developer

Hi wombok,
we're happy to know that the game mechanics have contributed to produce the hoped-for effect, and hope that the game succeeds in raising more awareness. Thank you for playing :)

Great job, guys. You managed to explain, in a very clear and even relaxing way, an issue that ruins many days and even one’s lifestyle (like how the protagonist starts wasting time on their compulsion to check if everything is okay to calm down). You have no idea how many days and good moments I've spoiled, worrying that I hadn’t locked the door, or how foolish I felt checking five times if I had closed it. The only way to break free from this loop of anxiety, in my personal experience, is to stop wasting time and energy on these obsessive thoughts and learn to trust oneself more, even if it’s hard at first. Anyway, congratulations on your game and best of luck.

Developer

Hi Axel,
we're immensely pleased that the game has succeeded in its hoped-for intent, and we hope it will help improve representation and spread awareness. Also, we wish you the best in you journey and thank you for sharing your experience with us :)

You did such a great job! Every time the anxiety bar hit, I really felt it... Details like actual fire noise in the background really added to this. And the narrowing of the FOV is also nice: you really can't see much in panic. I like the contrast of the surrounding world with all of the friendly people and the obsessive thoughts with compulsive actions. In the end, it was really nice to finally get on the bus! Thank you for this experience

Developer

Hi gegega,
we're very happy you liked the game and that all those details produced just the desired effect. Thank you for playing :)

such a excellent implementation of the themes of this jam, i will say thought the controls on the stairs were difficult, but everything else is so good

Developer(+1)

Hi Gara,
we're so glad you liked the game and thank you for playing. We implemented mouse hold click in order to decrease this problem and permit to move continuously through the stairs. I hope this didn't take too much away from the overall experience :)
