I really like this entry, I get alot of Binding of Issac vibes from the art style and it really works. Good job June, I feel with a bit more polish this game could definitely be something worth while! I'm gonna drop you a follow cause I really want to see this finished!
Wow! That's really flattering - thank you for playing too :) we've got it already written for the bigger version (like actually the GDD exists) so I hope we will finish it :)
This game was a lot of fun to play. I really enjoyed the overall aesthetic and challenge progression. The game teaches you how to play very well. I personally prefer a bit more consequence for death, but the puzzles were still challenging. I would have liked to see a bit more of a transition period when the levels reset, it can feel a bit jarring to go from getting hit to going back to the start of the level instantly.
Overall a great game with a lot of potential.
I'm surprised (positively) that you said it was "fun to play" considering the fact that we all thought it's rather an anti-game, not really a fun one but still - this indicates that there are people out there that will consider it fun, thanks for playing :)
this was fun
liked the visuals and fleshy vibe(sound effects were good for that to)
thought the walking animation looked a little weird
could use more feedback when you hit an enemy(i think some misses should have hit)
good variety of room layouts that gradually got more challenging
was an enjoyable experience
Thanks for playing and for your feedback too :)
Really cool concept, I had one issue of the player being reverted to the looking down animation after I pressed left, right or up maybe this was a a design decision but it felt a bit odd for me. The text in the pad if it was more of a sci-fi-ish font it would be more immersive. The puzzles were well thought out but maybe adding a health bar might make the game a bit more easier especially in the late game where I had to do everything all over which was a bit annoying. Overall it was a really good experience.
Thanks for playing and for your feedback :) You mean a health bar for enemies?
I thought I was doing pretty well and then I went through a door and the game said I was a parasite and killed everyone. I'm a bit confused, but I guess I am not supposed to kill the bugs? I think it told me that like halfway through.
Other than that weirdness I thought that the game was pretty fun! Controls are pretty good, graphics are nice, and the puzzles make sense.
I'm not sure if this constitutes a Metroidvania though.
hey, thanks for playing :) u can kill the bugs but that will result in a somewhat bad ending - there is a second pacifist approach to the game - it's all connected to the story (bits of it in demo - more to come). About the Metroidvania part - I would say it borrows some concepts of it like the closed doors that you need to figure out how to open and somewhat free approach to the level exploring - like you can go that way or the other
I enjoyed the game! The respawning enemies had a lot of synergy with the switch-hitting mechanics. It's a really good idea for an obstacle since those kind of switch puzzles usually just require time, and the respawning means that there is a lot of time pressure. I liked all the gameplay, and the graphics & story were both cool too. Nice work!
By the way, I assume I got to the end, but I wasn't sure. I got to the screen with "Parasite" and a button to go to the menu. Is that the end of the demo?
glad you enjoyed it :) that was the Parasite ending - there is a pacifisct approach to this game resulting in a different ending too :)
Can't get past the first level. :( So it may be good. Maybe not. idk.
is the protagonist running to slow? like slower than the enemy?
Yes. You have no chance to escape him or sneak past him.
pretty cool
