Excellent work. One of the highlights of the games I played. I'll fully admit that I got frustrated pretty quickly, but that didn't lessen the memories that formed from me playing this game. There were many unique encounters and a gradual increase of the number of powers that you have. And to top it all off, I've never played a bullet hell like it! I'm super impressed.
I do think tweaking the numbers on any combination of gravity, enemy sphere radius, or enemy health regeneration to be kinder to the player would go a long way for me personally, without losing the fundamental experience. But that comes from iteration and feedback, and even with quitting, i had fun. Great job.
thanks for playing! yeah the difficulty curve should be sanded back a bit, glad it was still fun anyway
Oh no, the gifs look so interesting. I hoped to play and rate the game but I am receiving an error:

thanks for reporting that
i looked into it and appears to be due to missing directX drivers

What an unique and fun game! Combining metroidvania with semi bullet hell is something I wasn't expecting to work as well as it did.
I think having to restart your hacking from scratch when you go out of range of an enemy makes the game a bit too hard, so perhaps instead having it drain rapidly would work better. Just long enough to let you correct a small mistake but could still be punishing for messing up badly. In a similar vein, having slightly larger areas on most enemies would allow for a bit more maneuverability while still being challenging.
Despite those balance issues, it's still a well made game and definitely the most original take on the genre I've seen so far in this jam. Well done!
thanks for checking it out!
having them drain is a good suggestion. ive thought of it but never tested it. i made sure the you could move outside the bubble a generous amount so when testing that felt fair so i left it there. but i imagine that it could improve things and open avenues for other possible mechanics
the difficulty curve is off. the rooms you encounter arent really in orderof difficulty, but since that wouldve taken a lot of time to get right for this type of game, i just put the tip to attempt easier encounters first and accepted that the game will have some sharp edges for the jam
Wow what an awesome game! Killer music, and really smart mechanics! When I got the swap power I was expecting I'd never use it and forget about it, but nope, those enemies did a good job forcing it on you. I love how each encounter was unique, and whilst movement was a bit slow at times, I appreciated the precision of the 'combat'. Really smart game, top notch stuff!
thanks for playing!
I liked the game, but it was too slow-paced for me to really enjoy. I wish when you fought enemies their "Download" bar would reduce gradually and not default back to 0. Overall though, the mechanics was something I haven't played before which I really liked.
thanks for the feedback
yeah the movement speed is too slow for exploring. its about as fast as it can be for combat to work, i thought about the game speed increasing when out of combat so that isnt an issue. it would create some other issues so i couldnt just implement that thoughtlessly without ironing things out
It was definitely a good game and I would love to see more updates if you're going to finish the game. Im gonna follow you incase you do.
One of the best "metroidvania's" I have played from this jam! This is some of the most fun that I have had with a game lately. The funny this is I don't even really like bullet hell games either!
Very nice job on the cohesiveness of the game in general. The controls are spot on, and I didn't seem to encounter one bug whatsoever while playing. Very clever abilities that you gain, and very clever use of toeing the line between a sidescroller and an overhead game at the same time!
thx :)
Hey, I just finished the game & it was awesome! Really fun to play. The 2nd upgrade is really neat & had a lot of synergy with the 1st upgrade. You did some really good enemy design that combined with the upgrades in interesting ways. The graphics were good & the music was really good. I thought each song was better than the last. Nice work!
