The combat in this actually feels pretty good and I really like the atmosphere of this. Sometimes you just gotta explore a place with a neat atmosphere with a satisfying long-reaching melee weapon, and this game does kinda deliver on that, heh. While not my favorite game I've played in the jam, it is one of the better ones I've played so far all the same.

Unfortunately I did run into one issue: As far as I can tell, the boat doesn't respawn if you die in the section after it. But I do like basically all of the rest of what I experienced here (though I admittedly did kinda give up after noticing that problem since I don't admittedly feel like replaying everything up to that point just to get back there again). Would love to see this expanded on!

Cool abyss setting!

Hey looked at it for a minute or two, will come back and give it a proper test run 3/5 on first impression!

Check out Chick-Magnet and give it a rate/comment if you have the time!

(The WebGL is more up-to-date but wasn't included as a Jam submission) Thanks, GameDev&Design

Cute characters and nice pixel art! I liked the setting of the story and thought the weapon was fun. I do wish there was a different health system, as the one-hit knockback to the starting point is super frustrating for people like me. Especially when there is limited visibility and basic enemies take a few hits to destroy, though some people love a high level of difficulty and punishment. I enjoyed the character/level design and the game mechanics and would like to see this game continue to grow and develop!

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback :)

Here's my feedback and rating

Hey! It's really useful to get such comprehensive feedback on my game. It's interesting to watch how another person plays, and even uncover bugs I didn't know existed (e.g. the boat not being there after a death :D)

Whilst i'm a little disappointed with the Enjoyment rating, I understand your points of frustration with the game. Thanks for putting the effort into such a detailed review

No problem! It definitely is helpful to see how someone approaches your game. Yeah, having to give lower stars is not a good feeling so I try to communicate as best as I can my issues with the category so people can understand why. Once again, no problem. I'm enjoying this format so far. Usually I leave a lengthy typed feedback, but I know how helpful it is to see someone play your game completely fresh.

Tongue and environment are really cool and the controls feel really good! I actually loved a lot of good design elements here, like the bats alerting you of their presence before attacking. The one thing that brought it down for me was getting killed at 1 hit, and having to start the entire thing all over. I went multiple times to try and go down this hallway and even if I knew the bad guy was there, he would still get me before I could kill him. I couldn't keep trying. Other than that, very cool!
