This was fun to play, I enjoyed trying to figure out ways to jump myself back up after falling all over the place haha

Here's my feedback

Hey! I like the concept of wall jumping to get around the environment, I have only seen it implemented in a couple of games so far and it's an enjoyable trait for sure. I would suggest changing the mechanic from just spam space bar to jumping left to right t o climb the walls. It took me a while to figure out how the jump worked and when I did I still didn't feel  in control of my character. Also when jumping forward I had to get the pixel perfect frame to land on the other side, sometimes requiring me to actually leave the platform before jumping which felt a little odd. It's not a huge deal but it did feel a little inconsistent. I appreciate the map you designed and I'm sad I wasn't able to explore  it more. I think if you polish the jump mechanics a little more you'll have a really fun game!

For being your first project, this is quite decent and much more polished than many other entries I’ve played during this jam! Nice job!

Player grunts were a bit annoying, especially since they play at every jump and sign. It took me quite a while to figure out that wall jumps grant you double jumps (either there was no tutorial for it or I must have missed it). Also, gravity was waaay too high and made some sections impossible for me (didn’t get very far unfortunately, got past the sign that said something about a blast zone and then had to give up). On the other hand, movement felt responsive enough, so props for that.

I look forward to what you can do next! Keep it up and I’m sure you’ll be able to churn out some real gems!

Thanks for taking the time to give this game a try! I agree a lot of tweaking could be done with jump mechanics and some hit boxes. I'm gonna keep grinding, and as you said we will see what little things I'll hopefully churn out.

Good job for your first jam game. Nice graphics. I wish I could have gotten further but the game was quite punishing. I found a checkpoint but it's still hard to proceed, you can get instakilled by spikes very easily and the map is large with no clearly blocked off paths. I also found an item but didn't know what to do with it, the game should really tell it. The controls weren't perfect but I had no major gripes with them, destroying boxes didn't always work like it should though.

Gotta mention that the grunting while reading signs is hilarious but very out of place lol.

=P Yeah the grunting is like a bad Rare game from back in the day! I agree some of the hit boxes are not the best, and some fine tuning was needed for sure. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for giving this a try.

An excellent start for your first game jam! The visuals and sound are all really well implemented (LOOOOOVE the parallax effect going on). Some of the mechanics are a bit clunky, the jump/physics in particular (though the walljump is really well implemented!). I also couldn't quite figure out where I was supposed to go, and I kept getting stuck with seemingly no way to get back, so I'd suggest making sure that you check that each path has a valid way forward/back.

Thanks the comment! Yeah the jumping I can see being a little awkward. I think I play tested it so much I had gotten used to it. I did try to make sure you could get back and forth even if not with all powerups.

Hopefully I'll get a few more jams under my belt and keep learning some new thing!
