Pretty fun little game! The combo system is neat.
Not too much say, although filling out the levels with more visual elements could have been nice. Also, I wonder why the walk speed is so slow when compared to the jumping. I ending up just jumping everywhere in the levels.
Enjoyment - It is a fun world to explore. Some parts feel too open/empty, but that can be easily fixed once you start adding some decorations.
Execution - Very good start, and the idea and main character are great :D It feels a bit odd that the jump left and right movement is faster than the running speed, I found myself just jumping the whole time hehe.
Visuals - Great start as well. The character animations are nice~ just need some tile variation/decorations.
Audio - I would suggest making an audio manager or script that takes each sound and slightly changes the pitch randomly. That way if you hear the same sound over and over (like the jump) it is less repetitive.
Metroidvania - Awesome start to a cool idea! Story elements like a lore opening would help set the mood. (My game is missing that too hehe)
Keep it up and good work! And please check out my game when you can :D
I enjoyed it overall! Simple visuals and gameplay, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - a bit more definition on the visuals would be nice but doesn't detract from gameplay.
I'm not sure if it's just me but there was no music I could hear? A soundtrack would be nice to go with this.
Overall good metroidvania vibe to this one I thought!
what do you mean play it without the joypad stick?, you can rebind it it just uses the dpad for defaut due to them being better for 2D games
also what boss dosen't have an AI? is this about them picking random attacks to use?
yes, i've played with D-Pad of joystick, but i prefer stick. i set stick always also for 2D games too. i've encounter a man in black suit in a large room, and it still remains in idle state for all fight
Pretty decent game, was a bit rough around the edges when I played it, but you seem to have updated it. Would recommend, hampters are cool
