So wholesome! I loved it!

Characters, story and art were all so cute!

You were right, though, it did relax me. I might take a nap.

This is such a great idea ! I never thought about a story book platformer ! well done

This is great! The game controls well and it looks gorgeous. I really dig the concept as well as I expected the traditional visual novel type of game. Great stuff!

"Alexander slipped and fell down a hole" . I keep seeing that text over and over again for the entirety of my playthrough. I HATE EVERYTHING, I CLICK THE SPACEBAR BUTTON BUT IT JUST DOESNT REGISTER?? I SWEAR TO GOD PLEASEEE JUST SOMEONE END MY SUFFERING.

This game looks very good, it has a very unique style and i really really liked how simple it is,  i enjoyed playing. Besides the fact im going to literally destroy my monitor if i keep falling down a hole even though i pressed the  spacebar button like a MILLION times already, but it just DOESNT register it. Also the collisions bothered me, i would've liked to see it shrunk down, i think that the collisions should be alot more forgiving. Overall good game, except for the... "Issues" to say the least

Thanks for your feedback! I'll be honest, it made me laugh a little 😅

Did you play the browser version or the windows version? Neither me nor my playtesters had spacebar issues but I'd love to figure it out and fix it and I really appreciate the feedback.

Oh and I hope your monitor is still okay!

This is wholesome, and I like how any actions are written in the book.

Maybe the problem is the physics and insta death pits everywhere. The map is a bit long, so having to restart over is a bit annoying, but I apreciate that the player still has the items they got.

Good game, overall!

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately I didn't have the coding skills to figure out respawning next to the holes, but with some work I think I could figure it out. Again, thanks!

oh my god, the idea of a game<->children storybook… I love it! Great art and super nice sound feedback too.

I think it can be pretty hard to come up with some twist to make a platformer really stand out. Maybe I haven't played enough of them, but I haven't come across any games that combine a platformer with a story book. That's pretty dang cool and unique in my opinion! As far as the gameplay goes, I think the beetles were a little difficult to dodge...they didn't seem to walk far enough. Other than that, I enjoyed the atmosphere, art and music. Nice work!

Thanks for your kind words! It's a style I really want to work on, and all the feedback I've been getting on this game jam version has been really helpful 😁

great aesthetic, and concept, but too many leaps of faith in the platforming for me

This is truly a fantastic experience to play, as it feels like a children's storybook. If I had to make one critique, it would be the jumping feels sort of out of tune. Overall, I cannot stress how amazing this game is. Great work!

I really loved the visuals of this game I think you did an amazing job. my complaint in the the range on the sword felt small compared to the animation. I could watch the sword go through an enemy and it wouldn't get hit. same problem with the player sometimes I would adjust myself for a jump and i would fall into a pit even though my back leg would still be on the ground. I really like the narration it reminded me of Stanley Parable. :)

Thanks for your feedback! I definitely could have spent more time on the collision detection and getting the feel right was a struggle, so I really appreciate the input.

The unpredictable jumping kind off ruined the fun because I kept falling in the pits and if you collect a bottle and jump straight down there's a pit too. Not even worth taking the bottle :(. Otherwise it was great though! I liked the story telling in the background and the art-style too.

I tried uploading an html version after submitting my original upload, and screwed everything up! The original file is back up now :)
