THIS IS COOL AND SUPER FUN

(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)

[testing the original game jam version]

"The player's only ability is to lock themselves in place!" -> reminds me of one of the powers from the Game Boy game "Monster Max"

Silly remark: I don’t know why, but the character’s silhouette and haircut reminds me of Beavis, or Butt-Head, or a mix of both. X)

Wow. This is totally in the vein of "Portal" (I had seen a 2D version, and your game reminds me of this), with your own twist. Actually, this is more of "Portal" meets "Super Meat Boy"! XD

Controls are QWERTY-only instead of layout-independent (I have an AZERTY keyboard), BUT arrow keys are enabled; yet, this is troublesome for the Z key (as in "That time i got locked in a MINIGAME Collection"!).

Beat the game!

Hahaha, the ‘QUIT button dialogue’ is great! XD Your take on GLaDOS / Wheatley? Still, this is a desktop version and not a navigator one, so the AI is wrong. ;)

Oh, I see in Archikatz’s comment and yours that the mechanic is taken from "Breath of the Wild" (never played, only knew parts of the game, but maybe not this ability)… I thought you invented it, so I am mildly disappointed. I mean, the game is still great and totally different from this "Zelda", but I thought you really came up with it from scratch!

Anyway, everything was great, from funny details (the rotating jump, the way the character dies turning into some kind of bunch of ‘papers’…) to the whole in-game progressive tutorial (once again, reminiscent of "Portal").

This could very well become a ‘full’ game. :)

(By the way, just putting here that my game is pending until I get the submission form.)

Thanks for the in depth review!
Here are my comments:

I wish you would've played the updated version in the browser, since that's how it was intended to be played. I only submitted a downloadable version since I had to release the OG version in some way before I could do the update.

The ability is taken from and themed after BOTW, but slightly modified in that BOTW does not let you use the ability on yourself. Also, BOTW is 3D. The original plan wasn't actually to copy breath of the wild, but then I couldn't think of a better way to do it.

You should really have a QWERTY keyboard on hand. Maybe just under your desk for when you need it.

I very glad that someone noticed the quit button dialogue. It's not actually themed after any character in particular.

The ending actually IS a reference to portal 2's ending, where you are sent to the surface with a companion cube. The cube in our game's ending is referred to as the "associate square" within the game's code.

I actually do intend to release several updates for this game since I liked it so much, including exporting to mobile.

The player's weird death animation was fixed (or at least improved) in the update.

Tysm for the review!

Super creative concept, and a super fun one as well, this was awesome! Hope to see more of it in the future!

Very good idea, fits the restrictions! It feels good to reach the door at high speed.

The sound of the gunfire continued after I cleared the room, so I thought it would be better to turn it off.

That bug has been fixed.

this was really great. fantastic use of the limitation and great level designs etc. super impressive game and especially given the fact that it was all pulled together so quickly. Love the sfx when you get chopped up heheh. Nice!

I'm glad you enjoyed my game!

The sound was made by gprosser. Credit goes to them for that one.

Would Not be surprised if this one won the jam. absolutely incredible concept with genuinely good level design! its clear most of the time went into that, but even then, the visuals are still okay, and remind me of old flash games. amazing game, 5 stars!

Very fun game! Really enjoyed how innovative you were with this limitation and no doubt with that feature added a ton of depth to your game. Overall great job!

Damn, freaking smart to use BOTW style of stasis!! Rated 5/5 for the mechanic's limitation, no doubt the most innovative so far that I played!

BOTW was the main inspiration for the power for sure.  One of my favorite games ever. Glad someone noticed.

First few levels, not gonna lie, I was wondering how you were going to handle the limitation.

Then you did, in an unexpected way.

A fun variant on the physics game genre.

I like the game, but maybe make it bigger next time, like 960x540 for example, so we can see better

You mean zoom the camera in? I can do that.

I've made it larger on the website, if that's what you meant.
