I was frustrated by the input eating, but the level design was so good that I had to push through to the end! That final stage was a real tough one.
The death animation when you hit the spikes was hilarious
i like the level design and animation, cute.
The game seems to swallow inputs a lot. Like the jumping only works on specific frames. It's a shame because it looks like a good game. I like the graphics and animation, and there seems to be some depth in there with momentum and wall jumping when the jump occasionally triggers.
Unfortunately the jumping bug makes it practically unplayable. Let me know if you're able to fix it and I would love to give it another try. I'm playing the WebGL version if that helps.
Part of the problem is that the jumping bug only seems to occur (for me) on the webgl version, I will try my best to fix it, but until then the download version doesn’t seem to have this (from what I’ve done)
I tried out the windows version and it was a bit better, but it still seemed to miss jump inputs pretty frequently. It was at least playable enough to make it a few levels in. I liked the feeling of momentum and the cloud explosions gave nice feedback on the movement. It's a shame that the jumping bug detracts from the experience.
I don’t even know what’s causing it, I’ve been tweaking my code like crazy trying to find a solution, but no such luck. So, it seems like this is going to be the game (at least for now)
Hey, I ended up fixing it! No eaten jump inputs!
If you wanna give it another try you can!
Yes, it's much better now. I was actually able to play all the levels this time.
Nice job fixing it! :)
really good idea and I had a fun time playing. I think the controls were a little frustrating though – not hard but fun like super meat boy, but not hilariously bad either like getting over it. I see a really fun game in here though, nice job!
I actually really like the movement in Getting Over It, because once you master the jank physics you can really fly through the map! I actually played through the game a few times. If we're talking Sexy Hiking however, that game is full of jank- but I still love it.
that’s true, getting over it’s controls are fair. they make me think “I have no one to blame but myself”. I guess the fact that I equate that with frustration says more about me than it does about the game.
It's a good game, and it's addictive once you get the hang of the mechanics of the controls; but, these controls are very rough...was it to give it intentional difficulty? If so, I would say that it reminds me of Super Meat boy
