In Screwble, you can die by being caught lying about a fake word. You can then submit this word to a database. Any player online will then avoid death if they lie about that same word.

Very cool game. My friend and I played quite some time and it was fun, sadly the server was offline when we played. The concept is really interesting but I guess it losts it's purpose when it's offline :c The music and the aesthetics were good too, and created a nice ambience.
yep holy shit 5 across the board I played with roomie and it was really fun, The database for me was offline so I don't think any of our fake words got submitted, but still really fun regardless.
Roomie: This was an insanely fun game with a ton of potential. Even though the database was offline, the premise of being able to submit words to an online system that other players can use to gaslight other people - possibly even by accident! - it's such an inspired idea. Please keep it up, everyone involved!!!!! ♥
Thank you!
I still feel really bad about the database issue I ran into. All the code for it was working perfectly and it worked great in-engine, although as soon as I uploaded the project to itch, it just wouldn't connect. Turns out the website that was hosting the database server wasn't considered secure, which is something I would've had to pay a monthly fee for; Http vs https. Slightly more complicated than that, but that's the easy version.
Wonderful concept and good execution!
The idea is great! Sometimes the game crashes in fake words, but great work anyway!
The gameplay is fun and i love the western theme with sounds but i don't know how it matches the theme but still high rating on presentation and concept Nice Game!
This game was incredibly fun to work on, although I faced a lot of limitations with the database. I've tried making minor tweaks to the game both client and server-wise, but the most prominent error is sadly not one I can fix without spending money on a better server.
The original intention was to use an ASP.Net C# server to listen to query data using UnityWebRequest, which the server would convert into an SQL command and return a Json string to the client. However, the site I'm using to connect to the server doesn't have any hosting attached, resulting in the following error being logged when the UnityWebRequest is sent.
Mixed Content: The page at 'https://kaircha.itch.io/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure resource 'http://screwble.rifthoppers.com/?word=owlbear'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.
Regardless, the game still functions perfectly fine, minus a couple small bugs here and there. Would've loved to add more interesting features, like point multipliers for using specific letters, or a way to reroll the board, but there was just no more time left to get all that done.
Hope everyone enjoys the game regardless! <3
Really cool, interesting use of limitation, and a very fun experience
The most unique game i've played so far, I can say I have never played a game like this for a game jam, nice job.
I didn't play much of it, but this is such a fun concept. I love the theme you went with. Good music for when you're staring a friend down, tryna call em out on their bullsh*t
A nice twist on scrabble, with the word completing. The UI and gameplay are intuitive. Playing it alone leaves some joy, but I could see the fun in playing it with another person. Nice sound effects and music.
The scoring is interesting and missing an mention in the end (of like who won or which score achieved) and doesn't immediately reset by restart.
