Fun and surprisingly difficult
Its like wheres waldo, but everyone is waldo lol
Besides the eye strain, this is a great idea! Honestly very clever. I didn't get all that far, but it really ramped up fast. The music was good choice too. I'm not completely sure how you would vary the levels without losing your gimmick, but some kind of change over time would just be visually nice.
My brain hurts...
This was awesome, you get a bit confused at first, but after a while you learn to spot your little guy amongst the crowd, and when you do, you always feel like you've got super sight :D
The music was really fun too !
Great job !
(I got 123 seconds, haha !)
This is absolute genius, congrats ! Honestly the best of the jam I played, I wish I had the idea 😂 I'm curious, were you inspired by anything ? A game you played before ?
What I loved :
- the way you write, how the little story is brought, it's so simple and enough to get hooked and laugh.
- The concept of course is great, I've never played a game toying with this part of my brain.
- The music, although I understand you've not asked the artist the permission... you should try to find them, they will surely give you the right to use it, but all the same you have to ask. Use Shazam ?
What I didn't like :
- Difficulty ramps up a bit quickly
- It's repetitive, I was really hooked on the beginning but it didn't last long when I saw that the only difference between levels was just more Bobs
Once again congrats, you have a talent.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it, this is actually only my 2nd game jam so your feedback really means a lot! It's funny how you mention the story, it was a last minute addition to make the game feel a bit more complete so I'm glad you liked it. I was planning on making the clones 'smarter' as the levels progressed to make it harder in a different way other than more clones but unfortunately I didn't finish it in time.
To answer a few of your questions:
- The idea basically came from me being lazy and not wanting to make lots of art haha. I normally use premade assets but since the jam had a set palette I had to create my own, I'm not very good at art so I wanted to keep the assets needed at a minimum. My first idea was a game where you make clones of yourself to help navigate through puzzles (by standing on buttons, etc.) but realized it was hard to distinguish between yourself and other clones. That's when I had the idea to make this game.
- I make sure all the music I download is public domain and completely free to use for my projects. I pretty much always give credit to the artist and was considering not using the music since I couldn't find the original but it fit my game too well! I'm actually in the process of going through all my saved music to make sure I have the correct artist noted down for each one.
Wooh so that's really your idea ! You can be proud.
What about switching the clones smoothly between random behavior and organized patterns ? Like you have this random crowd, but now it seems more of them are going in the same direction. Not all of them but more and more but now it's random again. Just my two cents...
Thank you so much for suggesting Shazam! I managed to find the track and I've credited the artist in the description of my game.
YOU ARE GENIUS
That is outrageous! Please win!!
Also did you make the music yourself?
Thank you! I didn't make the music, I wish I could make something that good lol. Normally I'd give credit to whoever made it (even though its public domain) but I'v had the track saved on my PC for a while and honestly can't remember where I got it from haha. I'm glad you liked the game!
