I was a little confused by the difference between attack and special at first, and the military portion felt really weird to me in that I could never hit the enemy, but other than that I had a lot of fun! I liked how each enemy is slightly strategic in needing to see if attack or special was stronger, and I loved the art and the "news report" perspective of the whole game. Overall, great game!

Thank you for the feedback! Our mechanics definitely could have been explained better, it's one thing I'll keep in mind for next time. Glad you liked it!

the point of view from which the story is narrated is very original, i like the idea of making this story told by a news channel! I find a bit strange that the art in the screen is pixel and the narrator is kind of cartoony. I would have liked everything in just one art style.

Developer

Thank you lots! Keeping everything to the same artstyle does add consistency, true. But, we thought it would stand out more if the screen had a pixelated artstyle, it also helped keep the screen and the newscaster seperated. Thanks for playing!

The art is great, the report is a good idea and I liked the possibility to improve the character. Good job.

Thanks for the positive feedback, we felt the news report would be an interesting way to give the game a bit more personality. The character improvement allowed us to add a little depth to the fighting and also a way to defeat enemies you couldnt before.

It's good to hear those things were implemented well, thanks for your reaction!

Thanks for the kind words! We tried to make sure that the game would be nice to look at, both on a visual as well as a variety standpoint, so I'm glad our hard work paid off!

I really liked the game and enjoyed the art a lot. All the different enemies were neat and the mechanic of upgrading after you are defeated and being able to shoot the enemy with bullets was inventive and added an extra layer to the gameplay. I'm not sure what the difference between the attack and special was, but the special seemed to do more damage, so I only used that and upgraded past the maximum. I was one-shotting most monsters until they got to the point that Daikyo man killed me at full health in one hit. Instead of a second attack bar, maybe some kind of block or armor bar could be nice to have. Overall, really nice game, I enjoyed it greatly.

Developer

Hey, thanks for the positive feedback, glad you liked the game!

We definitely could have explained it better, but each enemy has two different stats for defending against the player's attacks, one for the normal attack, and one for the special attack. Each different kaiju has a different amount for each, so it's up to the player to decide which attack type they want to upgrade more. We did this to add a little more depth to the battle system without sacrificing too much time.

Upgrading your health more can be good way to be able to last longer, but a block gauge or armor system is a great suggestion, thanks!

oh, I didn’t realize you could upgrade health, awesome! Thank you for the reply!

good pixel art, I like that you can strengthen the main hero. What I don't like is that in the second phase when you have to shoot the kaijus it is very difficult to guess where they are going to be

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and nice words! The military phase is actually random, so there really isn't a way to guess where the kaiju will move to, it's designed to be a way to get a small amount of extra points before the upgrade phase.

Cool game. reminded me of an old Pokémon game. (:

Developer

Thanks! We based our sprites for the screen on old Tamagotchi/Digimon games where they had limited colors and small screens to display sprites, so I'm glad it reminded you of Pokemon!
