Super fun game! Took me way back to playing ropers on Worms Armageddon, haha! Really satisfying to swing around and carry momentum. Also, I liked the idea of highlighting the player character, really helped you keep track of where you are. (Edit: Also, thank you for making checkpoints!!)
Had a few little quirks, like someone mentioned, roping straight horizontally kind of messed with your momentum, and a couple times I clicked but didn't fire, although I think it was because there was nothing to grapple to. Maybe showing the rope shooting a short distance and then disappearing might indicate a little better to the player?
Anyhow, those were just small nitpicks, overall really enjoyable and super engaging! Great job!
The central grapple mechanic was really well done and felt super comfortable (except when done directly horizontal despite vertical momentum) which you built the rest of the game around really well, I replayed a couple of times and got 3mins 5 secs. Really fun game enjoyed it thouroughly.
Very well polished, incredibly satisfying to use the hook. Just wish it was longer! Are you planning on adding more levels post-rating period?
For now I'm taking a break so I don't get burned out, but its possible in the future I'll try and update it.
Great game! It was pretty fun learning to use the grappling hook and it is very satisfying using it on enemies! Good job!
Great game. It takes some time to get used to using grappling hook, but after that it's very fun to hop around.
After 3rd round I accidentally pressed 'W' in lobby and had to replay whole level to go back to menu (I think there is no way to go back?), but it didn't take long, because I knew what was comming and I had fun playing it again.
More levels please! :)
Really fun. I finished in 4m 50s. Some of the swinging felt a little bit weird, especially in tight spaces. It was like the swing was still occurring but I was pressed against the wall, instead of resetting my momentum when I collided. But that was minor, other than this the mechanic felt really good, and I like that you could grapple to enemies.
A tutorial level is always a +++ for me, so well done there. Overall, a solid little jam game. Also, using a hook sprite gets you bonus points!
thats a super good time! Your 100% right on the momentum, I wasn't able to fix all the bugs with the grapple in time. Turned out to be quite the undertaking for a jam game mechanic :P
Ah I got so far then got stuck in a wall. As far as it goes, I like games like this. My suggestion, make it so that once you commit to one direction (With a jump not while swinging) you can't go the other direction. Think like the jumping in Ghouls and Ghosts. Sometimes the grapple didn't propel, but it was still pretty good!
Cool! Easy to play but hard to master, i like how you took the effort to make a tutorial, really helped :D
It's nice how you don't really have one predetermined path a player must take to swing to the other side, there are multiple ways sometimes and it's fun to figure them out. The difficulty did increase quite fast, would have felt better if the first few levels were easier and fast, so a player can really get the "hang" of the game (yes that is a pun). Nice music, although maybe i was missing a sound for the hook itself? Could have felt more satisfying to have a sound once you latch onto a wall or something ^^
thanks a lot for the feedback, there is a hook sound its just too quite/ shoulda picked a louder overall effect :P
I really love grappling hooks. Really engaging.
I found the grappling a little tricky at times but that's just me being a scrub, this is a great lil game!
This is pretty creative. Took me 6min 20sec to reash the end. The only complaint that I can come up with is that sometimes the grapple controls feel a lil wonky or tight to use. Excellent work man!
