Wow, if I had a week of time and was told to make a chess game, I probably wont finish in time.
Some critique:
1) You forgot to disable movable separator in the endgame screen (between "X wins" and "Replay; Exit")
2) If white wins and "Replay" is pressed, then black move first :D
3) Game sometimes just randomly crushes.
Here is an opening that leads to a game crush.
1. e4 c6 2. Kc3 d5 3. d4 Kf6 4. e5 Kfd7 5. f4 c5 6. Be3 Kc6 7. Qf3 (game crash)!?
Here is another one:
1. e4 e5 2. Kf3 Kc6 3. d4 e:d4 4. K:d4 Bc5 5. Bc4 (game crash)!?
Sidenote, "!?" in chess notation stands for "interesting move". Idk why I decided to explain that joke. Those are very consistent and easy to reproduce btw.
welcome to the chess club buddy 😎
Seems interesting and love the concept around a fresh take on Chess. I like the fact that you posted even though you didn’t stick with the art pack, and look forward to see what you make in the future!
The isometric view looks really nice :) I had fun!
The "glitches" were very confusing, and hard to remember. Cool concept in thought though.
The isometric board looks nice and I like the text flickering effects, the text was from the art-pack at least :)
I love chess, my friend here also loves chess. However, I found it incredibly difficult to see what I was doing with the isometric board. The music also really got to me, a mute button would've been nice. I also didn't get a chance to use any of the glitches. Also, the pieces look a little different from the ones in the asset pack. Also, the king and queen sprites are switched around.
Thank you for the feedback. I can't believe i messed up the order of the pieces and sorry for blowing up your ears. Thanks for trying it out
As a fellow chess-game maker, this is really neat. However, I have to ask - where did you get the art assets for the pieces and the board? They don't look like anything I recognize from the art pack.
Well i was participating with a friend and he was very enthusiastic about drawing. He drew over the pieces in the art pack but they became unrecognizable. We knew it was against the rules but we decided to go with it. Thanks for trying the game out
