Great fun! Loved the writing, music and art of the game.

I was a bit confused as to why I got the "bad" ending, but I can see from other comments that it is that the good ending is quite tricky to get. Still, the ending I got wasn't too sombre :)

A really cool project, thank you for sharing!

My first playthough was pretty frustrating because I hadn't done a slide puzzle in a long time and I'm embarrassed to say it took a while to remember how to solve them lol. That said, I think the use of puzzles that differ based on what class you get was a great feature.

I enjoyed the story and the lore of the cat clan. The writing was good and like Neverdusk, I appreciated the extra details that could be revealed. Sadly, I never figured out how to get a "good" ending even after three or four playthroughs.

Overall I think this is a great game! I did encounter a couple minor bugs (where it looked like it was trying to substitute in a name but showed the code instead) but nothing game-breaking. The presentation was nice and I liked the music, too--it was sparse but really fit the story.

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Yeah, our whole team knows the algorithm to solve a sliding puzzle now, it's pretty interesting to learn.  But we knew some players wouldn't expect minigames in a Twine game, so we always included a "way out" button that didn't impact the gameplay too much.

The "good" ending is admittedly pretty difficult to get, especially since some of the events of the game are randomly selected every playthrough. We did run out of time near the end of the jam so didn't have enough playtesting to tell that it's so hard to get the "good endng" and the wolf stats are definitely not as balanced as they should be. Maybe we'll release a post-jam version...? (no promises Lol)

We also included a list of bugs on the game page. If you have a second and wanna check to see if the bugs you mentioned are there, that'd be super helpful. I think I know what bug you're talking about, like it replaced the names with $clan.warriors[$parentIndex].name. We aren't sure why that happens, and closing the tab and opening the game again always fixed it for us (though it loses the progress in the game).

Thanks so much again! Happy to hear you enjoyed the game :)  🍀

P.S. Also loved the story in your game! We love to see other text adventures in this jam!

CANNOT believe this.  incredible for a jam game.  Had a bunch of fun with this one.
Fav parts:
The cat customization,
The moving map!
The way that the theme was weaved in.
Amazing feat.  I wasn't super clear how my choices were affecting my playthru but it did seem like there were many many ways it could go down.  Felt super free.

Hey thanks so much for taking the time! There are indeed many, many options. Our dev meetings basically consisted of, "Ok, but what if they player chooses medicine, and then goes to talk to them, and then...."

Glad you enjoyed! 🍀

P.S. Also loved the art from your game, C H E R R Y D R E A M [walking 'round a surreal dream field] :)

This is a really impressive project! The customization really caught me off guard - and I love the detail of the map panning around to different events! I thought the ability to click keywords to get more detailed, in-text descriptions as part of the narrative (as opposed to pop-ups) was a really great innovation that I honestly haven't seen anywhere else before. It means those who want to quickly ride through, and those who want to take their time and absorb the details can both enjoy the same passages in the way that they like.

On top of that, I really like how the different choices really result in their own responses. It feels very kinetic, and even though it's probably linear overall, I still feel like I've made actual choices, and characters have different responses to them. In fact, I'd even suggest removing the "Tell me a story" option or limiting it to two stories, just to make it feel more kinetic, and perhaps encourage further playthroughs. So far before that, the choices had actually gotten me to roleplay a bit and take time to imagine what my character would want before picking a choice, so being able to hear all three stories (strangely enough) actually removed that layer of meaningful choices for a moment. Also I couldn't figure out any of the puzzles XD. It might just be me, but it feels like there was some information missing (like how many shifts / jobs were available in total, etc). Btw, was there supposed to be audio?

Overall, I really loved it. Really reminded me of the Warriors series I read when I was little. I found myself suddenly getting flashbacks of Bluestar, Tigerclaw, and Scourge haha.

Hey thanks so much for your kind words! Really nice to hear that you enjoyed playing our game as much as we enjoyed making it.
We really wanted choices to matter, especially for this Narrative Jam. We also included random event selection-- so for the events while you're a kit and the events while you're an apprentice, there are a few things that could happen. What are they, you ask? Maybe it's cause for another playthrough....

Also for the puzzles, as far as we can tell they're solvable, but we intended to make them difficult. That's also why we always included a "Get me the heck outta this puzzle" button that doesn't impact the story all that much.

And yes, there is audio! Other commenters seem to have verified they could hear the music, so you may wanna check your browser settings or use another browser if you'd like to hear the soundtrack. On playtesting, we heard music on Chrome, Edge, and Opera (other browsers not tested).

Thanks so much for your suggestions and feedback! :) 🍀
