Good work!

Some feedback:

  • Good UI aesthetics and design
  • Cute monster and characters
  • I like how the audio helps indicate that there's something new in the room (ghosts) and lets me know to watch out for them.
  • Camera can be a bit finicky when transitioning between two rooms (the ghost room and the room above it)
  • Another keybind like press R to reset the level also. When I lose often, I don't like that I have to lift my hand off the keyboard to click Retry. It'd be nice to also press "R" to retry on that screen.
  • Input feels a bit stiff? But doesn't hinder gameplay that much.
  • I couldn't figure out how to get past the wall. There's apparently a button somewhere according to comments, but I couldn't find it. I think the game was a little too dark for me.

But I still had fun playing your game, good work :)

Hello! thank you so much for taking your time to play and giving a really comprehensive review to the game. Our artist and UI designer are really delighted that you like the arts and UI. From the review given, I will improve the game in the future to add more QOL stuff as you said. I really liked the idea given about adding keybind to reset the level :D. from the input wise, I will refactor the code back in order to improve the player input feeling. also, for the button xd try to explore more on the room where there is 2 fire monster are waiting B) I guess I also need to brighten the room a little bit in the future xd... nontheless, really love the review given and again, thank you so much!

The game looks, quite atmospheric and has good esthetics.

Assuming it should be an action game with fluid movement,  i wasn't able to play it do to low frame rates, may be it could work better with a downloadable version.

I had hardware acceleration enabled and have tested it with two different browsers(chrome and mozilla), same results.

My PC specs should not be an issue:

  • CPU: i5-6400
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

I had a go at the downloadable version also, and it worked and i managed to bet the game, with 2:44 left on the timer :D

Although my platforming skills aren't the best, the game was enjoyable and overall I had fun.

The last jumping section was a bit to hard, in my opinion. It was not very clear what was the intended method/path there, in regards to using the dash. I simply double jumped on the middle column all the way to the top.

Had a few issues with pushing the button, sometimes I was landing on it but it would not press down.

Also consider to give the player a feedback for any action performed, especially if the result is not immediately obvious. As in this case try considering having the button to stay pressed or have an audio cue so that the player will know that it had an effect and that it is not bugged or stuck.

Awesome and congrats on beating the game, you are a very skillfull platformer B), also regarding the last level, I do intend to let player discover creative way to climb up the last jumping section. and it seems that you are one of the people that are able to discover the way xd. Regarding the button, I have to admit that it is bugged and the way you can actually get the button pushed is by jumping high and then land on the button, and you cant just simply run to the button, bad programming from my side xd, I will also implement an update to the button in the future :D to add a audio cue, thank you for the suggestion!

Great game! Just a suggestion, maybe you can allow the player to respawn and restart the level the character died in or create an easy mode with easier levels so that a noob gamer (aka me) can have a chance of beating the game.

Developer

hello! Thank you so much for the review! and we will update the game furthermore in the future to implement an easy mode for the game!

Sounds were A+! I loved the page flip sound when you moved to the next screen and the ghost sounds. Nice touch. The AI was cool too.
