Great job submitting a game! This is a cool little puzzle game, its nice to see some puzzle representation in the entries. I really wish I knew how to figure this out but I have no idea where to even start. I really like how the controls are not limited to one time presses and I can hold down a key to spam change numbers :) Thanks for participating!

Thanks. The main problem with this kind of puzzles is that if you know how to solve it once, you know how to solve it all the time and it gets boring. I based it on a minigame that is featured in many places in mmo game called DDO. The tiles have only 2 states in that game, but there are few size variations.


BTW this game is probably the easiest one to actually implement on the old nokia phones, unlike many other games in the jam, but this wasn't any requirement in the jam.


PS. the game has (at least one) a bug, but fortunatelly most people won't see it, as it can be only repicated when the game is won.

Not really a fan of these style of puzzles. It feels like either you know the specific algorithm or you don't. But this game in particular seems like a nice version of the concept and I'm sure someone who was into them would enjoy it.

This requires Rubik’s Cube Brain, and I don’t have that. Nice challenge though. I got all the numbers to the same, but not to 0, and then screwed it up again while trying to increment them all evenly from there. Is there a name for this kind of puzzle?

i have no idea if it has any particular name.

I saw simpler version of that game as a minigame in mmo game called DDO. In there the tiles had only 2 alternating states. I recreated it and added more tile states.


I know simple algorithm for binary version of that game and it can be used in my version to bring all the border tiles to one state and center to another. From that, when everything is perfectly symmetrical, it's fairly easy to reach all zeros.


I doubt i would ever solve it without knowing the base algorithm.

This is a really great, simple concept for a puzzle game. However, I am unfortunately not intelligent enough to beat it, haha

Cool idea for a puzzle. Way too hard for me, though...

Also a little tip: Be mindful of different keyboard layouts. On my layout (I'm from Germany) the Z and Y keys are swapped, so the Z key is not in the 3x3 layout, where it's supposed to be. Not a huge problem but a bit annoying.

It's worse for french players as this is what the relevant section looks like on their keyboards:

At first i wanted to use numpad keys, but the order on pc numpad is totally different than on phone keyboard, so i decided to use letters. I should've added an option to switch key settings, but i didn't think of it at that time.

Like I said, it's not too much of a problem.
It's worse when the game is action oriented and depends on quick inputs.
Just something to keep in mind for the future.

I had to learn this by not catering to it and getting reviews from frustrated frenchmen myself. :D
