Has potentials when fully developed. Enemy shouldn't be able to detect through walls.

Yes, such a system is in the plans. It is done so due to time constraints. Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it!

Would be nice if i would walk automatically while holding the key

Developer

Good idea! Thanks!

Well that was brutal :D

Good job on the presentation and how it controls. Impressive work in such a short time!
My issues with it were mostly balance related like most people said, but at least you didn't need to completely restart.

Thank you for review! Yep, balance is hard >~<
We learned that in GameJam games, it's better to keep things easy, not hard now

I loved it. Really ambitious. I like the take on a wizardry-style gameplay.

Impressive what you made within a week. I would love to see what this could be with more time for development in terms of polish, story more variety etc.

An example of polish would be letting the player see what the skill does before using it during combat.

Thank you for your review! Glad you liked it <3

Glad you like my review :) I read from the other comments that you will work on some balance-issues and such. Do you know how much you will work on the game after the Jam? Will it be some small fixes and then call it quits, or do you have plans on developing this into a big game?

Developer(+1)

Unfortunately I can't say anything for sure. We'll definitely fix the balance, progression and playthrough. New content is in question

We promised to update our last game and failed in this one due to real life workload. So we'll see, keep an eye on the game and us :3

This was a nice experience. I  really liked the idea and the art. The game is on the harder difficulty and it really needs some balancing especially for the later enemies. I think you need to add more free items which you can find in the levels and raise the amount of money you get by selling the items. This way you simultaneously stimulate the player to explore more of the levels and also making it easier to improve your skill so you can have a chance fighting the harder enemies. I

Thanks for playing!

Totally agree, generating money is the biggest problem as I think too. Even the enemies wouldn't be so strong if the player had more options in purchases

We'll work on it, wait for updates

Very nice :-)

Very cute game. Could have used with a quick tutorial, but promising! <3

Needs better instructions, but otherwise a good start.

Fantastic art, well done

Solid game! Love the artwork. Difficulty is pretty up there, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I did go my entire first playthrough only being able to catch the first two types of ghosts though. Whenever I encountered other types (which was only twice), I didn't have the health or items like acid that one would need to take them on. To conclude, very cool concept, and I absolutely plan on playing until I catch 'em all.

Developer

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the balance will need to be worked on... Haven't had time to check everything. Thanks for the reply!

Technically competent, visually impressive, and strongly on theme.  Just lacking clarity in a few places (for example, is it possible to sneak up on an enemy and get the first turn?).  Regarding the commenter that said the enemies dodge "everything," I suspect that it's hyperbole.  Dodges are frequent and the difficulty is high, but I feel like that's on brand.

The best game of this jam. I played every other before, since the artwork seemed so promising and it did not disappoint. Very very cute pics. great gameplay idea. challenging but not impossible etc. I hope to see a more fleshed out version at some point! 5/5

Art is cute, but gameplay seems extremely in favor of the enemies, which makes it seem impossible to beat even the 3rd one without a lot of grinding. Having to pay gold for the restraints required as part of the objective feels awful, and so does having to buy an upgrade before the first floor to prevent losing to it.

I wish I could have seen the art for the 3rd and onwards enemies but I did not want to spend time grinding.

Thanks for the honest answer! Sorry for the balance issues, to create everything we were building the game minute to minute towards the end of the GameJam so there wasn't much time to test it >~<

We will revise the balance in the update, but it will have to wait until GameJam end!

Going through the entire game with no deaths or bugs. Also there are all the enemies

enemy just dodges everything

Developer (1 edit)

I've already told you that it's not on your last comment. Do you want me to record a video?
