Since it's a jam game, I won't talk about minor things or polish and focus on the main impressions it made on me instead. Without any particular order...

  • It's super fun! And I want to play it on my phone!
  • The gameplay itself is of course very simple. But the graphic and sound design make it highly entertaining! Were they less good, the game would have much less appeal to replay it.
  • A triple tap is rather hard for me. Maybe my hand or my keyboard are suboptimal.
  • It also took me a while to teach my muscles which colour means which command. But that was expected. Since the coolest colour is in the middle, it was rarely a problem.
  • I couldn't fully understand how the energy deduction works. In particular, it is not clear when the tap command has to be finished. When all rails have appeared? Lead to some frustration when I was 100% convinced I was fast enough with my triple tap. Also, I don't understand why I lose a specific amount of energy when I do.
  • Since you're using bright, primary colours it might be tricky, but I found it a bit weird that the energy bar has one of the rail colours.
  • The background looks a bit too interesting...? I was often distracted and not focussing on the rails... 😅

Thanks so much for your comments Bernhard, very useful feedback. Glad you enjoy playing the game. My main aim was to try and keep the game simple and have the the world and everything surrounding it super immersive and interesting. You can also use a game controller if that's easier? I need to look into accessibility options for the future for sure, with regards to the controls and colours. In terms of the damage, you have to be the correct colour before the last middle rail reaches it's position below you. if your reactions are slow you'll take a bunch of damage, if you change during the transition but end up on the right colour you might take less damage based on your reaction time. I'm not sure what colour I would go for otherwise for the energy bar...I used to have a percentage, but wasn't a fan. The background being interesting is sort of my intention, the aim is to get as far as your can without being distracted too much and remembering your colours. You'll have to pick and choose your moments to get lost in the environment. :)

Really loved the idea of the game it plays well and is sufficiently challenging. Excellent graphics. Have you ever thought about a career in the games industry? You'd go far! :))

Best looking game so far, love this games style and music the challenge is real in this game especially as you progress. Only one suggestion, sometimes as the pressure grows i forgot how many taps for what colour maybe some sort of indication would be cool. well done

Developer

Thanks that's great to hear, very glad you like it, yours is cool too. Cheers for your feedback, you've given me a good idea of what I could maybe do about that. So, thanks! :D

Fun but punishing game i enjoyed playing and i really like the art style.

Id suggest adding an indication on screen at all times that shows the player how many times they need to tap to get each colour rather than only the tutorial also it didnt seem to have any difficulty increase, maybe i didnt play it for long enough but it seemed to be the same difficulty the whole time.Increasing the speed the colours change later on in the game might make the game a little more exciting.

Thanks very much for playing, glad you like it. I agree eventually the difficulty could ramp up more (other than the refill stations slowly becoming less frequent). However, I have to disagree with the indication comment...it's 3 things to remember. If anything it's a memory game and 3 isn't tooooo much to ask I don't think. Thanks once again, I'll check yours out next :)

I agree that it isn't too much to ask of the play to remember 3 simple combinations but if you want the player to have the best experience and the game revolves around one specific thing it could never hurt to keep an indicator of what they player can do.

I certainly wouldn’t want it to be too spoon fed. But I’ll have a think about it. 👍

Super well polished, love the graphics and style.

Thanks very much! That was my main goal, so glad you think so! :)

The visual are really cool in your game. Looks perfectly polished game. I loved the idea of switching colors with multiple taps of same button. I am not sure how you achieved that. I am guessing you start a timer on first press and count the number of subsequent inputs before the time runs out. If you are doing something else please let me know. I too use Godot engine and would love to learn how you achieved color change with just one button.

That being said, I think you can tweak the gameplay a little to make sure that players get enough time to identify the color before crashing. While I was playing, I constantly kept on losing some health whenever the colors changed. Also, I am a little color blind, so it was difficult for me to see the difference between blue and red. :-p

Just a side note, I saw multiple error in the terminal window. All of them were for some missing methods. I think this happens only when player crashes and restarts the game. Are some unnecessary signals being emitted?

ERROR: emit_signal: Error calling method from signal 'animation_finished': 'Spatial(Spatial.gd)::_on_AnimationPlayer_animation_finished': Method not found..

Anyways, I really like this game for the visuals. There isn't much time left, but if you update the game, let me know. I'd love to give it another go. :-)

Thanks very much for your comments. I think your game looks great too, so good job! you're basically there, yep, a timer  which starts counting and then a maximum counter, and mini cooldowns in between. It could use some tweaking to be more friendly I agree, and I would definitely be interested in improving things for people such as yourself with colour blindness.  Thanks so much for playing.
